Round 3 to 5 guy.

So if he performs well at senior bowl / combine then 3 it is...

Which means Lynch will snag him early 2nd rd

Nah

I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade back from 33/34 to pick up a 3rd, followed by 3 day 2 need picks, like Ridley, Blair, & Winovich (in any order). Bosa, Ridley, Blair, Winovich by the end of day 2? I'd have to stay home from work until my superboner relaxed.

LOL

seriously, I've never been more interested / anxious for a draft than this one... this losing has to be on FO nerves by now, I don't think KS or Lynch ever been through this much losing. I think they'll do better this coming draft and bring better talent in FA #CrossingFingers

I think Shermy could help him fix his cons....
My gut tells me this is their guy at safety. He checks all of their boxes. I'm just waiting for the PV for affirmation.

Totally agree.
Not trying to say watching a few highlights on youtube makes me an expert here... So maybe I'm way off base.

But everything I just watched was this guy flying in from miles away and blowing a guy who had already made a catch. Which seems fine if we're looking for a box safety or a gunner.

But as far as I can tell, our biggest need is a FS who can cover. And that's not what I saw.

Maybe if we can get this guy later, after we draft a coverage FS, then that would make sense to me.

But passing on a good crop of single high safeties to take this guy seems like the kind of move that will be on our list of complaints if the defense doesn't come together this year.

https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/marquise-blair here's 3 different breakdowns.

I don't think there's a bunch of good single-high guys, also it's not about passing them up most are gonna go top 75.

You can't upgrade every position in one off season.

Marquise Blair played a lot of free safety in single-high coverages. He can play everything because he has the athleticism, range, and instincts to play centerfielder and physicality, contact courage and play processing to play in the box. Furthermore, I expect the Niners to continue varying their coverages next season. We saw them disguising in more 2-high calls towards the end of last season. They brought in Jason Verrett(not the prototypical CB in this scheme) this offseason and added Joe Woods as secondary/DB coach. There's a discernable evolution taking place here.

And if they're going to have to evolve away from that Seattle-style box SS+single-high FS, cover 3 combo into a more interchangeable safety duo, they're going to covet players like Blair. Blair is a versatile player who brings physicality, alpha competitiveness and versatility. He shares many of the same qualities that attracted the 49ers to Marcell Harris.

+3. Personally I wish we could get Abram somehow, I think that kid will be a star in the league

I'm actually surprised he weighed in at 195. I was expecting 185 from watching him in games. 195 isn't too bad. I'd prefer 205, but he has such a slender frame...
I watched a lot of Blair 2-3 months ago. The kid has great athleticism, range, and can lay the wood. But he gets caught in the wrong place often, leads with his helmet, and is just overall very raw. I'm really not sure we go safety at all this year. If we wanted one we could have gotten a good one in FA. Fwiw, I really think we think we have our answer in Colbert or Harris

Harris is a straight up box safety. Tarrt can however play FS if need be. I agree S might not be high on the list this yr. IF someone drops I think they might bite but I don't think they're gonna overdraft a S.

I do like Blair at least where he's value is.
