It's obvious you didn't watch the game then.

I dont need to watch the game to evaluate those 2 plays. No amount of context is going to make me consider an everyday football move to be dirty.

Hitting players after the whistle...?? Why have a whistle or refs then?

What are you talking about? When Winovich gets hurt, you can clearly see that the play is still live.

#72 had a couple of episodes that night... If you watched the entire game. You definitely would know what I was talking about... It was clear...

"It wasn't called for," Michigan running back Karan Higdon said of the hit. "It's football, things like that happen, they shouldn't happen but they do. We've just got to continue playing.

Higdon called the hit on Edwards "definitely" a cheap shot. Michigan tight end Nick Eubanks called the Hoosiers' play "dirty."

The injury to Edwards occurred on a fourth-quarter kickoff, when Indiana linebacker Cam Jones delivered a hit to the head that resulted in a targeting penalty and ejection. Edwards laid on the field for several minutes before he was strapped to a backboard and carted off the field.

Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh said that initial reports on Edwards were good but that he has a concussion and was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

Higdon said the hit on Edwards "shook the team up a little bit."

"Obviously the situation with my brother Berkley Edwards didn't sit well with myself or anybody else" Higdon said. "That was a situation that was unfortunate and kind of shook the team up a little bit."

In addition to Edwards, Wolverines defensive end Chase Winovich was also injured by a hit to which Michigan players took exception.

Midway through the third quarter, Winovich was blocked to the ground by Indiana offensive lineman Simon Stepaniak, who then jumped on him to deliver a subsequent hit. Winovich left the game, Harbaugh said after the game that X-rays and a CAT scans for Winovich were both negative but said his status for Ohio State is uncertain. He declined to say which body part Winovich injured.

Two plays later, Stepaniak was assessed a personal foul for a different play.

Eubanks said Harbaugh talked to the team about protecting themselves in the game and not responding in kind to what players saw as dirty hits.

"It was BS for them to do that, but he preached for us to protect ourselves, be aware of what they were doing, that's what we did," Eubanks said.

"We were upset, but it was based on us not to react to it and play to the same level that they're playing. We're more of a business team, we don't do stuff like that."

I had to go look for myself. Nothing dirty. You encourage OL to keep blocking through the whistle. When in doubt, you put your guy down and you keep him down.

If Tomlinson does that then 49ers fans would applaud him for showing some toughness and putting a little fear into the DL.

Give that dude a future tryout, you want that grit in your OL.
Love this kids attitude goes 💯 every game. He's got a spot on my roster.

Guess we don't need to see this one da f**k

NOTICE that majority (if not all) of the team you mentioned runs the 3-4 scheme..

IN THE NFL, "The Vich" will be a standing OLB.. similar to Kevin Greene..

no way he'll be a good 4-3 DE..

Chargers & Jags Run the same scheme we do, there's a ton of scope in our D for someone like Chase.

1 gap Vs 2 gap responsibility is much more important than 3-4 Vs 4-3. We run many of the principles that a 1 gap 3-4 team run
Chase Winovich – Defensive End/Edge

"Winovich has been a highly productive two-year starter. In 2017, he finished the season with 70 total tackles and 8.5 sacks. He has 39 total tackles and 4.0 sacks this season, so he could conceivably match his sack total from a year ago.

When Winovich was in high school he played quarterback and linebacker but was moved to defensive end upon arriving at Michigan. He redshirted as a true freshman and played as a reserve in 2015 and 2016. Last year he became a ful-ltime starter and began to excel.

What I like about Winovich is his all-out competitive demeanor. He's a snap-to-whistle guy who plays a physical game. At about 6032 – 255 with estimated 4.75 speed, he isn't the biggest guy. But with his strength, power and explosion, he plays bigger than his real size.

When playing the run, Winovich gets off the ball quickly, has quick hands to take on blocks and never gets knocked off the line of scrimmage. He has top instincts, is quick to find the ball and easily gets through trash. Chase plays contain very well and does an excellent job keeping plays inside him. He has the speed and takes the proper angles to catch plays from behind when in pursuit.

As a pass rusher, Winovich has good snap reaction with a quick first step. He shows that he can rush the passer with moves or power. Chase is explosive through the hips, giving him the power to walk back an offensive lineman. I like the way he can re-direct and come back across the face of a blocker. He closes well coming off a block. With his competitive nature, you never have to worry about Winovich finishing a play.

In the Michigan scheme, Winovich doesn't drop into coverage, so that will be something that coaches look for in workouts this spring. He can play end in a 4-3 or outside 'backer in a 3-4, because either way he will be rushing the passer on passing downs. I see him as a rotational type player early on with a chance to become an eventual starter in the league."
