And here's the thing. A WR is dependent on a lot of other things in the game - the QB, the OL pass blocking for the QB.

A pass rusher can single handedly impact the play. We've got a QB making big bucks, some young talent coming up for contracts. Taking on the highest salary at WR for a guy who is so mentally weak is a big risk. Dude has like a $21 million cap hit next season.

I understand the talent is crazy and I'd love to see him in this offense but that's just craziness.

That doesn't change the fact that of the last seven Super Bowl champions, only ONE has had a guy with double digit sacks. Pass rushers can be double teamed without drastically hurting an offense.

A potential all time great receiver and a decent pass rusher is better than just a good pass rusher.

So Kawakami thinks it's better to trade for OBJ and NOT draft Bosa?

I'm gonna have to strongly disagree, we need a goddam pass rush.

I think that was more because he was taking from the available pieces. There is no logical reason why you should have to wait to get a great receiver other than timing his cap hit with the contract of your big money players. But we already have our qb on his second contract.
If AZ wanted Bosa they wouldn't have floated info that they're taking Murray. It either means they're taking Murray, or they're trying to sell the pick to someone who wants Murray. In a super deep Edge class, nobody is moving to 1 to take Bosa. Way too expensive.

The only way AZ takes Bosa is if Kingsbury was just running his mouth and not on the same page as Keim, which seems unlikely.

Why is there so much hype for this guy. Thus far he seems to be just like his brother. Can't stay healthy. Could be an amazing pass rusher if he stays healthy. However, is his body of work worthy of the 2nd overall pick? What am I missing?

The tape?

The key factor is there are about five quality outside pass rushers in this draft, and getting OBJ would only take two off the board, while putting us in a position to choose from the other three at the sixth pick.

I'm not buying all the Cards is drafting Murray hype. As far as I'm concerned they're still taking Bosa #1.

OBJ + the 6th pick of the draft... an no? Really? A good pass rusher can be had at 6 while securing an outstanding WR

This. If Bosa was a generational talent the. I'd give pause. But he isn't. He's just arguably the best edge of this draft.

That is true...where we disagree is the fact that OBJ is an all time great receiver or that Bosa is just a good pass rusher.

Not all teams are the same. We have a CLEAR issue at edge rushers. We need a guy who can dominate from the outside and force other QBs to get rid of the ball quick. We have a pretty good interior heavy DL. Getting an edge is key to making this defense take a huge step forward, which in turn will help the rest of the defensive players and the team overall.

Does OBJ make us more dangerous on offense? Of course. But what does his contract do to the team? Bosa makes us a much better defense and can play week 1. But we're still a team with needs. Paying a WR $20 mil is crazy and while we have cap space it will disappear awfully quick with OBJ's contract on the books.

Kawakami has had some of the worst sports takes ever.

The limited tape looks great... But it is limited and plenty of game loss due to injury.

Bosa to them doesn't even make sense. He'd make a very poor 3-4 OLB and he'd be a waste as a 3-4 DE. If anything they'd be better off taking Allen or Williams, both great players who fit their defense much more than Nick. I'm pretty confident Nick will be there for us at #2 but I'd like them to trade Rosen or trade down before the draft so I don't have to wait out the clock to know for sure.

I agree with Mayo and you. They will draft Bosa and it doesn't make sense. But they are the Tards for a reason.

I actually agree with Kawakami for once! If the Niners can get OBJ and still draft a player at 6, it's a no brainer imo.
