Sad the 49ers still have so many holes, I mean literally in this draft they need to shore up the offensive line, find an edge rusher, revitalize the linebacker core, while adding a CB and WR.
I will play devils advocate
edge pass rusher- number one need
OL- I think a swing tackle that can play all four OL spots is coveted, one that can eventually be a starting Tackle.
revitalize lb core- a coverage lb is needed
CB- I think this is not a top need, if pass rush is improved the existing cb's will do ok
WR- call me a sucka, but I am hopefully that Kendrick Bourned and Max Mcaffrey pan out.

The 49ers 2018 Draft will be a success if... They take full advantage of the great depth at interior OL, LB and CB from the 3rd round on, and address our pass rush in 1 or 2.

I'd be happy if they checked these boxes in some order:
- fast LB
- front 7 player that can pass rush
- tall CB
- OT depth
- WR depth

- tall CB
- OT depth
- WR depth

No character concerns at all. Period. None. And no reaches at #9.
We have been burned by character issues, and our first round pics have been pretty horrible over the last decade.
I want a player at #9 that will be on the roster for the next decade.

Fitzpatrick or Smith. Those are the two that best fit that description.

A slot CB does not fit that description IMO....

You dont honestly think Fitz is going to be a slot CB long term. He will be a FS and a star. You may not want him for the 49ers but he is a great talent with no off the field issues.

So we giving up on Colbert already?
If We need S, its not a FS, its a SS to replace Tartt who only has one year left.

They double up on edge rushers and LB's. Basically a whole new LB core.
While I understand all problems can't be solve in one off-season... having guys who can get after the QB and guys who can stop the run helps both the offense and the rest of the defense. So for me, it's suring up the defense with all new LB's.
I would say no less than 3 drafted by end of day 2. With or without trades.
I agree. f**k it. Better be safe than sorry. Although I wouldn't mind if they grabbed one or two of a WR/RB/TE that they feel has big potential. Should be cashing in on a guard as well. But that'll depend completely on the draft board and who's still available.
TE needs to be closely monitored as well. Love Kittle but dude seems like he's gonna he plagued with injuries.

Need to improve edge rush, LB, guard
Cb should be fine for the next couple years unless you're counting out Sherman or Witherspoon. Kwaun does great for us too. Of course we can improve at CB but it's not a total need.
Can also improve at RB(bigger guys for goal line situations, change of pace), TE(could be a big need because of kittles injury history) WR isn't too much of a need but always good to improve there. Or start looking for Staley's replacement.
Wouldn't be opposed to drafting a 1t as well

I think Buckner is the only legit solid first round pick the last ten years. That's f'in crazy horrible.
