Obo just derailed the Davenport hype train. Question is, where does Okoronkwo end up on everyone's draft board after this week? For the Niners purposes, Is he good enough to be taken at #9 or will he even be there at #59?

He is an edge rusher and probably the drafts best one.
I'm only talking about doing some SAM work on our base D to enhance his value. If he can set the edge and cover the flat, while occasionally rushing that's a good thing.
IMO he'll have more success doing that than trying to play LEO and set the edge on LT's.
We all know he's going to make his living on 3rd down, rushing from either side.
I just can't see him being anywhere near the best prospect available at #9 or 10. I want an every down stud at drafting that high, and I know we want a pass rusher but I just don't see one there.

ATL tried Vic Beasley at SAM this year and it didn't work. He went from 15.5 sacks to 5 sacks. They took him away from what he does best and that is cause havok as an edge rusher. LEO's don't need to set the edge. They need to rush the passer. 5T's and SAM backers need to set the edge on the strong side of the formation.
You take the good with the bad. There are very few true LEO's who are stout vs the run.
Cliff Avril wasn't great at it. Von Miller isn't. Leonard Floyd wasn't drafted 9th overall to stop the run. DeMarcus Lawrence and Kahlil Mack are terrible vs the run but they play all 3 downs. These guys are pass rushers and that's what teams put a premium on.
We need a pass rush and Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is arguably the most talented natural pass rusher available.

In his final year in Norman, he showcased stout edge-setting ability against the run too, lending credence to the idea that he has value beyond seeing the field in pass-rushing sub-packages.
13. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, OLB, Oklahoma
Okoronkwo has the athleticism and nuance when getting to the quarterback to be a productive NFL player right away. He actually uses his smaller stature as an advantage in the leverage battle and possesses long arms to keep offensive linemen off his frame on the outside. He's a stand-up outside rusher with three-down ability.

Von Miller is very good against the run, Floyd is pretty good as well.
The fact is you don't need to be a run stuffing monster, but if you can't set the edge, or you just get mauled out of your gap, the teams run D will suffer immensely.
I can see that happening to just about every LEO prospect in this class, with exception of Chubb and Eijofor. We don't want to set our run D back.
Now I can see us picking a pure pass rusher with a trade at say 20-40 range who will only play obvious passing downs. The point of Beasley and Ingram playing SAM is to squeeze extra value from them.
Dante Fowler rarely plays base downs for Jax and he was drafted very high, and is a terror so it is possible, but I don't see anyone that good in this class.

I know I didn't just read Khalil Mack is terrible versus the run...He's one of the best force players in the league. The guy wrecks running plays. I believe he had the highest run defense grade of all edge players.

He's not the biggest guy (6013, 243 pounds, 34.5″ arms) but the man simply knows how to win on the edge. A twitched up pass rusher, Okoronkwo spent the week running circles around the offensive tackles. While that wasn't unexpected, his ability to play the run truly popped. Despite less-than-ideal height and weight measurements, Okoronkwo held his own setting the edge and squeezing gaps.
Okoronkwo proved that he has every down ability in Mobile which will go a long way in helping his draft stock.

I hope he tears it up this weekend.

If Okoronkwo is there at the end of the 2nd or top of the 3rd, gotta do what it takes to get him. Hoping he doesn't flash too much at the Senior Bowl game or Combine.
Could you imagine Roquan Smith and Okoronkwo on the 49ers defense!!!

He's going higher than that Kolohe, I reckon he could sneak into the 1st, but would go pretty early in the 2nd

Yeah, the (can play the run) just means Saleh can leave him at LEO every down and not have to split roles between a base down LEO who's better suited for run downs and an edge rusher who's better for pass rushing on 3rd down.
That's ideal...a guy who can bring a pass rush on ANY down (because you never know when a team will pass) and a guy who can be equally effective against the run in case a team does try and run.
