Marcus Davenport is most intriguing defensive player at Senior Bowl
The defensive player I am most intrigued to see next week is UTSA defensive end Marcus Davenport. There's a lot to like about Davenport's skill set. Listed at 6-foot-7 and 255 pounds, Davenport is a long, athletic edge defender who has blossomed during his senior season.
A contributor since his freshman year, Davenport's production has steadily increased every year and he played the best football of his career as a senior. After producing 67 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 13 games as a junior, Davenport had 55 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks in his senior campaign.
While Davenport has been impressive against Power 5 schools during his career, the opportunity to work with NFL coaching to maximize his traits could lead to a monster week in Mobile. There are already first round whispers surrounding Davenport and those can turn into roars with a strong Senior Bowl week performance.
