Dante Pettis, WR, Washington

I was watching some college highlights earlier today, and a Pettis touchdown came up. I thought to myself, "Damn, Pettis is such a sweet route runner." Then it dawned on me: Why the hell aren't we talking about this guy more? He's got some of the best route running in the draft. Tremendous attention to detail there. Great hands. Tracks the ball exceptionally well and has outstanding body control. Vertical looks like it's going to be good because he consistently out jumps dudes to high-point the ball. Killer PR. He's got sneaky twitch and good speed to take it to the house. We're so caught up on the flashy guys or the sexy measurables that we often gloss over the guys who are flat-out good football players.

6'1" 200 lbs

Welcome to the Pettis hive.

Heroism, Thanks for the flash back. Im a homer and saw him lot do good things all the time.

Put on 10 lbs. and hit the weight room and Dante will be a monsta.

darn Lynch... always reaching...

j/k

PRO Football Weekly who still has a really good scouting network, had him projected as a early to mid 2nd rd pick and rated as the 4th best WR in the draft

Doesn't fit narrative. Ignoring.

I think he's fine. He will probably naturally put some on but he runs a lot stronger than his weight.

From what I can tell. We are more upset at the trade up for Pettis. Not the selection itself.

Atleast thats my stance. I still think Washington will be a better player. But pettis was my #2 choice.

Gotcha. Well, this is two years in a row now that draft "value" has been chucked out the window by these two. They obviously target specific players in specific rounds. And if they get antsy, they'll spend two picks on that one guy. Well see how it goes, last year it went arguably well.

I share your thoughts on this. I live in Seattle and I think Pettis will be a great player. Jimmy G has shown (so far) his ability to hit receivers in stride and Pettis has the opportunity to excel RAC.

But....the price to trade up was steep! It appears that Shanny and Lynch fall in love with players instead of being patient and allowing the draft to come to them and this concerns me a bit. We could have drafted a quality guard or a back up RB with that extra 3rd round pick. Guess time will tell.....
