So what do we do in the 2018 draft now we have Jimmy G?

What a luxury to even have this thread to talk about.

I want a LT who will l be a ten year pro bowler or a true edge rusher. I haven't heard many predicting to be top 3 yet.

Otherwise I'll take Barkley and make due.

I'm all for trading down but looking at the draft I wonder who is on the other side of the trade.

Jets, Jacksonville, Giants, Browns possibly for a QB.

Jets would put us in position for a top OT, G, Edge or WR. Same with Browns 2nd pick.

Giants would be top 5

Jacksonville needs a QB and are so loaded on defense their cap is going to explode, they are ready to win now and stop drafting high so they might unload picks

Jets are a good partner IMO. I think they will end up having a lower top 10 pick(who would've thought they'd have 4 wins the whole season let alone through just 9 games) but they also have 2 2nd round picks this year.

Let's say we secure #1 or #2 overall(2 more than likely)

Trade that to Jets for their 1st, 2 2nd rounders and next year's 1st rounder :)

They get a QB of the future. We can draft BPA with their first rounder Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, Connor Williams,Quenton Nelson, Harold Landry, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Arden Key, Bradley Chubb, Roquan Smith all would be in play and all would improve our roster.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that as good as Barkley looks to be, if we are investing in a QB who we think and hope will become a franchise QB then the best strategy is to protect that investment. If we had a solid Oline and we may rectify that in FA, then Barkley makes sense.

So throwing it to the floor, what would people prefer we do? Personally I am for addressing the Oline in FA and if confident in them drafting Barkley, but that means a bidding war in FA and I'm not up to speed on who will be available in FA and if they justify what it would take.

I think the number one priority now is to protect Jimmy G.

Try to trade down or take best available.

I disagree. As good as Barkley is I don't think anyone can reason giving away that much for a RB.

A franchise QB however...most fans won't argue trading away that much especially when it's worked out for teams in recent years.

In all honesty, I expect us to be all over oline in FA.

I think unless we get mega value at pick 1 or 2 then we take Barkley, the more I look at it the more I think that there needs to be a consensus two top QB's for us to see the value we would want for the 1st or 2nd pick.

I'd be delighted with Barkley if we don't see someone offer the farm, and I'm not sure that there are two QB's that would be the consensus top 2 picks, but the hype train will start rolling pre-draft.

I think it'll be like this year, waiting to see what the Browns do and if they take a QB then we pull the trigger on Barkley unless we get offered premium value.

OL is a huge need, though not a sexy one. Look what Dallas has now and what the 49ers had with Iupati and Davis. Unless the OL gets rebuilt, protecting Garappolo and opening holes for Barkley will be just a pipe dream.

Fortunately, FA offers plenty to fix the line:

Ryan Jensen would be a great fix at center and Baltimore is going to have to make some major moves in order to find cap room to re-sign him. If Jensen is off the market, Weston Richburg is the same age as Jensen and with a similarly cap restricted team. Richburg is having a bit of a down year this year but his body of work say "quality."

The best guard available is Andrew Norwell of Carolina and he is very good. I can't see them letting him go but they are also cap restricted and certainly will not be able to match the 49ers offer if Lynch/Shanahan really want him. Evan Smith (Bucs) is down a level from Norwell but would be a significant upgrade from Kilgore.

Between those four guys, we should be able to fill two holes and have a healthy Garnett for the other guard spot. That puts the interior OL in the best shape it has been in for a long while.

With that done, we can go shopping or grab Barkley if Shanahan likes him. If not Barkley, then an edge rusher is a must. If we are to have any quality of rebuild, it must begin by consistently winning at the LOS.

Now, go find a tackle to replace Staley, then a WR.

Saquon Barkley is likely the pick. Plus I think he is the rare talent that is actually worth that pick at his position. He is the explosive play maker that this offense desperately needs. Or trade down and stockpile picks and fill lots of holes. Lord knows we sure have a lot of them all over the field. I wouldn't really be disappointed with him as the pick though.

Barkley's been pretty bad these last two losses for Penn St., Incredibly talented player but he isn't very consistent.

Yes. I had just decided that he was the man as Browns would take a qb, and Barkley nose dived! Wouldnt worry me usually but we need this pick to be a real impact player.

So now, for me it is trade down a little and pick up a pass rusher or an OT.
