If they have Darold, Allen, Rosen all graded similarly why not draft Barkley and take one of those three? They could bring in AJ McCarron and let one of those three sit for a yr to learn (which they should all do). Barkley is pro-ready and a top 10 RB day one in the league.

IF there's a huge gap in their evaluation of all those QBs then get your man, but just from everything we've read there really isn't.

If the Browns sign AJ McCarron they aren't drafting a QB in round 1.

Why? Bears did it last yr with Glennon

Because for some reason teams think he can be more then a one year starting QB.

Who's thinking that exactly? I haven't heard anyone proclaiming that.
We'd probably have to give up this years and next years #1 to get him...

That would be nice to have but I get the impression we're trying to force Solomon Thomas there.

Now that said, it seems liked Saleh likes bigger ends esp. on the first two downs.

So it wouldn't surprise me if Saleh is in love with him and envisions him as the LEO with Thomas at BE the first two downs and then continue to bring in the smaller, bendier 3rd down edge rushers from there.

I've always been impessed with your predictions. You have a good point about Saleh liking Big LEO's.

If the free agency period continues with another couple of big signings, in addition to Sherman. Mabye this becomes a possibility.

Let's say this happens...

We shore up our secondary and pass rush, and pick in the later 3rd of next years' draft. It's not a terrible trade, unless we tank it this year

I'd prefer we trade back and pick up a 1st next year. Grab a situational pass rusher/SLB or 2 in the late day 2, early day 3 area. Then next year, we find our 3 down LEO, equipped with 2 first round picks in a class stacked with Bosa, Jackson, Ferrell, etc.

We have 9 picks and after the Chubb trade up, we would still have around 8 to shore up the O LIne, LB, and DB situation. Hypotethically speaking.

I think it would be worth it to land an elite edge rusher. With Sherman (assuming he's close to 90%) shoring up the defensive backfield, getting a possible free agent LB to add depth due to the Reuben situation - I'd risk it if Chubb is the kind of pass rusher that's an every down kind of pass rusher. If Chubb isn't that kind of a sure fire blue chip player, then definitely trade down get Landry and get more draft picks for this year and next. I think the edge rusher position is the final piece of a good playoff run for this next year.

I wish I knew more about next years edge rushers. But if things break right - we should be picking dead last or pretty close to it in next years draft. That would mean *this* is the last year we should be picking top 10 in the draft. So, if that's the case, we need to pick an elite edge rusher in this years draft because that should be the last time we'll pick 10 or higher for a long while.

Agree

And the plot thickens.

Tomorrow will be VERY interesting and I can't wait.

On pins & needles.

Which is why I'd prefer to have 2 first next year instead of 0. Ammunition to move into the top 10 again.

I remember the Jerry Rice trade, and it involved (I think) a number one. All the recent move ups into the first round revolved around number 1 picks, not number 2 picks. So while two number 2's are good ammunition, it won't get you into the top 10 in my opinion.

The moves Niners are making show they're trying to win it all now. If they're aggressive this week again (pay big money for WR, oline) - I think they'll trade up to #3 and take the best edge rusher Bradley chubb. Last missing piece on the team.

Will cost a first round pick for next year but that should be a late one anyways. This year might be last time picking top 10 until 5-6 years so maximize it.
