Grade John Lynch's first Draft Day

Don't really see the two as comparable. Cunningham has the athletic traits but he whiffs on a lot of tackles, uses poor technique and weak ass arm tackle attempts that won't cut it in the NFL. I'd have been miffed if they had drafted him in the 2nd round. With Foster, I have no concerns about his play on the field, he was clearly the best ILB in this entire draft by far. Its going to be a matter of how well he can keep himself out of trouble off of it.

So, if Baalke had drafted 20 D-linemen before, Lynch shouldn't take that into consideration before formulating his draft plans?

Just like the fact Baalke never did sh*t on offense, that should have also been taken into consideration by Lynch.

Should have gone offense with the 3 pick. Loved the gamesmanship of the Bears trade, but totally wasted the pick. Loved the Foster pick provided if he doesn't act up his sh*t. I give credit where credit is due.

C, that is the most Lynch is getting from me.

What was Baalke's biggest issue that we all hated?

Fxxking wouldn't and couldn't draft on offense. I certainly hope Lynch is not defense-biased like our beloved ex-GM.

A+++

Only time will tell, but on film I thought Cunningham was better than Foster.

Just remember if Cunningham is killing it in the NFL, who told you so (well and MD is huge on him as well).

If Foster does excellent, well then I have no problem applauding Lynch.

My question is are our 1st round picks only reserved for defensive players these days??!!

You take 3 x D-linemen in 3 consecutive years and go defense 5 years in a row!! What kind of BS is that?! You don't need Einstein to tell you, hey this ain't a balanced drafting approach.

What if the FO were to go offense in the next 5 years with all our 1st round picks?? Would you be cool with that??

New FO and a bad roster, past drafts mean nothing, they aren't tied to anyone. Just get the best players

Exactly! Past drafts mean nothing and I trust Lynch's judgement of our defensive needs over any poster in the zone. We got two of the best players in the draft. Never would have thought we could get both of these guys and not give anything away, including no future picks. We got both of them and a high 3rd next year? Great start for the new era and really excited for today.

Exactly. I can't understand how past drafts, under an admittedly flawed GM, have any bearing on what the new GM does.It doesn't matter if we went heavy on defense for the last twenty drafts if the defense is still broken, and this draft class is heavy on defensive talent.

You what?! That is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard.

I'm glad that the offensive head coach actually is building his defense first. I think this strategy made them unpredictable, hence the BEARS giving away all of those picks to move up one spot to keep their QB target away from KS. We can relax, we actually have a coach that will identify system fits and be able to draft offensive players or acquire them via free agency. Defense wins Championships...
Lynch did a good job, as far as picking the best players from the lot.

How they pan out, well, that would be the true grade.

The 49ers still don't have a real QB.

No. John Clayton explained that there was concern amongst NFL teams about the people that Foster surrounding himself with at Alabama but there were no incidents, or at least none that we know of.

California might be a bit of culture shock for him

This kid is a miracle! Look at what he has gone through and yet he has remained focused through it all:

Kids who grow up like he did usually don't go to college or become millionaires, #resilient!

hard to fix that when there wasn't one to draft
Foster is perfect for this defense

Exactly. Peterman in the 3rd is better value than Trubisky at 2. I was hoping we'd trade back up to get Watson but not that far.

As of now, I trust Hoyer leading this team this year than Trubisky.

The fact that we could not stop the run or rush the passer....shouldn't you take that into consideration when looking at the pick we made ? Did you ever take into consideration that Kyle likely has more confidence in what he can do with what he had on offense going into the draft than what Saleh can probably do with what he had on the defensive side of the ball ? Kyle was very much involved in the process and the outcome, these picks were not made in a vacuum without his input and I;d be willing to bet he was very much on board with getting both considering they were 2 of the top 3 players on our draft board.

I mean if it was that easy to get a "real QB" then every team would have one right?

Kyle clearly didn't like any of the top ones...I'll trust his judgment
