Part of the whole bad run D was having Bow and Armstrong out. If Bow is back to 100% we aren't getting run over like last year.

What? Week 2 we gave up 176 yards to NC (over 100 to fozzy), week 3 130 to Seattle (micheal over 100), 200 yards week 4 to Dallas (zeke 140 yards). Those were games with Bow. AA hasn't proven to be good at stopping the run regardless of injury.

We started the season with 4 hard opponents. When teams got easier I doubt the numbers would be that high with Bow and Ray Ray. We also had the D on the field too much thanks to Kelly.

You're blaming AA yet the guy had a bum shoulder. He should've been shut down earlier, that's not his fault.

I've been one of the more positive posters on AA in here...but he hasn't done anything yet that's a fact. Maybe he will be good but he hasn't done squat yet. He's not a ideal fit for a 4-3 and wasn't great vs the run in college. You say we played 4 hard teams, who gives a s**t it's the NFL you need to do your job. And please don't tell me fozzy whittaker and christen Micheal and that horrible OL in Seattle are good.

Stop making excuses

He's had 2 dips**t DC's back to back and an injury. Nobody has looked good and a big part of that is coaching.

We've been getting owned by Seattle for years. Divisional games are always hard.

That somehow didn't stop guys like Buckner, Robinson...etc.

excuses...your a damn football player and playing on the DL, your job is to plug holes and stuff the run. Sure having a better scheme is important, but he couldn't do it in college and hasn't done it thus far in the pros.

He's not an ideal fit for a 4-3 and imo is a better pass rusher than run stuffer please show me otherwise.

I'd love nothing more than for AA to break out but you don't pass on a talent like Thomas on the hope of someone doing something he hasn't done in his whole career (college/pro). He wasn't drafted by this FO or coaching staff so all bets are off.

IF we can't trade down Solomon imho should be the pick.

Buck wasn't playing hurt.

He got hurt in training camp. Does anybody expect a DL to play with power on a bad arm?

An anonymous NFL scout compared Stanford DL Solomon Thomas to John Randle.

"Excellent quickness and motor," he said. Thomas is highly versatile, though the NFL sees more of a 3-technique than a 5-technique at the moment. Adding some weight would make him a neater fit at multiple positions. "Great kid," another scout said. "Team captain. Top worker. Explosive athlete. Plays hard. Runs and chases. Strong hands."

He was hurt. Does that not matter?

So the NFL sees him inside? Funny I though he was more than able to play outside...

Was he hurt his rookie yr? Was he hurt in college when he could stop the run?

Like I've said I'm a big AA supporter but I see him more as a sub package pass rusher at this point. He hasn't earned anything to this point.

Guess you didn't read that..."Adding some weight would make him a neater fit at multiple positions."

No one thinks he's a straight up LEO pass rusher so save your breath...you've been arguing with yourself regarding that. He can play all over the line and be pushed to the outside on certain packages. It's called game planing and finding miss matches.

Another poster compared him to a young Bryant Young. I like that comp as well. Thomas will make the guys around him better. Having him on the line with Buckner would be huge. Buckner would get more one on one opportunities and could have an even better 2nd year.

If they don't bring in another DT in FA, then I'm hoping they look at Tomlinson in the mid rounds. All they would need is a LEO.

And once again you don't know that he would have been a whole lot better healthy, not better enough for the 49ers to pass on a talent like Thomas.

That is one of the closest comparisons that I can think of. Obviously not saying that Thomas is going to be HOF level player but in terms of their motor, quickness and hand use that is who he reminds me of.

It's safe to assume he would be a lot better with 2 good shoulders.
