Solomon Thomas--Stanford

I don't see why he can't rock some LEO if need be, dude is a straight football player that can fit anywhere on that DL. You talk about scheme fit then pump up LF who isn't a fit...

No, I told you Shanny would have to make some changes. He's not a zone runner but our line isn't either so maybe he should.

At either Leo or Sam we're going to look for a Irvin or Beasley. The stud. It's too important of a position to consistently bet on 3rd rounders. Maybe we could sign Ingram next year after his tag expires.

There are guys who better fit our need for the LEO. Like this kid though, just see him as more of an interior guy.

Or Hightower now (sam)...Kyle has ran ZBS since day one he's not changing his philosophy on offense based on a rookie and two guys on the OL. Maybe he runs more power but that's not long term at all. Get a good ZB RB and grab Solomon who can rush the passer and stuff the run well.

Also no one says they can move back up or draft a pure speed pass rusher either.

And who fits the bill at two? If you can get a aaron Donald justin smith type talent you don't pass on that.

Maybe so, but he dominated that competition and is said to have GREAT character. Better than a guy like Jodan Willis from what I see.

You got players outside of Willis like the guys from Bama, Harris, kid from UCLA etc...
Not saying there isn't a lot of edge rushers.. but bang for your buck I think he's best bet especially because he doesn't have an injury tack record or currently recovering from one, as well as high character. He also had a really good week at the senior bowl against better competition

I see him as a third rd pick tops...just too many good prospects that played vs top competition.

This isn't the fab 5 we got to address other needs too. I see no reason why a 3 tech is worth the #2 pick even if we can move around a little bit. It would be one thing if Thomas was the ideal Leo/ Sam prospect but he's not. It would be one thing if we could play him in the Bennett role but we already got a stud there. I just don't see the value.
- Arik Armstead plays 30% of the snaps behind Earl Mitchell who gets about 40% at 3 tech DT.
- Draft CB Marshon Lattimore in round 1
- Draft LEO Jordan Willis in round 2
- Draft NT Dalvin Tomlinson in round 3

Our division has David Johnson, Todd Gurley, Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy. If we can't stop the run we might as well not even show up on Sundays.

LDE- Deforest Buckner - Ronald Blair
NT- Dalvin Tomlinson - Quinton Dial
DT- Earl Mitchell- Arik Armstead
LEO- Aaron Lynch - Jordan Willis

WOLB- Malcolm Smith
MLB- Navarro Bowman
SOLB- Ahmad Brooks

have him add like 8 lbs and turn him into a aaron Donald type player.

Thomas lined up from the zero to 9 tech for Stanford...we will be in nickle a ton so having a guy that can ability to stop the run plus rush the passer from inside or outside will make him a highly coveted player worth a top pick

I'll add id rather move down cause we need help all over but if not this is my pick

Watch Jordan Willis compared to Derek Rivers and some of the edge rushers available after the 2nd round.. No way I want willis in the 2nd.

Agree, I wouldn't take the small school guy in the 2nd. but 3rd i'd 100% draft this guy.

Who did Derek Rivers face? That's right. No-one.

When was the last time a pass rusher from a small NCAA DIVISION II School do anything in the NFL?

Demarcus ware went to Troy?
the more i see solomon thomas film, the more i like him. I did notice though that he tends to tackle high and try to spin his guy down on a couple of his highlights, of course he can get away with that in college but it won't work in the NFL. Good thing that is easily coachable. I would be very happy with getting him with our number 2. pick.
