Best Pass Rushers?

Yup, he's not lasting past day 2. Too productive and too athletic to fly under the radar. Ive seen a few draft evaluators and scouts call him a top 3 edge rusher in the draft.

With all of the support for Solomon Thomas at #2, I figured this thread shouldn't die. I can't decide who I want at #2, I can't sell myself on Thomas. I think he'd be very beneficial to the defense, but any pass rusher behind Myles Garrett will feel like an L. Trubisky at 2, pass. Don't want Fournette at 2. I like Hooker or Adams, but we have CBs so Ward seems like a lock to move to FS. Don't see Foster at 2. I love Mike Williams and Corey Davis, but not at 2. So while I keep searching for my #2 pick, i'd like to take a moment to push a pass rusher most people aren't familiar with at a later pick.. Derek Rivers. Small school guy with a big frame, great stats, and impressive film. Check him out:

Would like to pick this guy up some where in the draft if we don't get Myles Garrett in the 1st

If we can work a deal with Cleveland and swing 12 and 33 along with 34, I'd like him at 33-34 if like you say he's going that early.. I see a 3rd round pick, if he wasn't from Youngstown I'd bet he'd be a 1st round lock. Hopefully teams run from the small school guy and he falls to us in the 3rd
I love Charles Harris. If we could get him at anywhere from 10 to 33 I would be thrilled. Even if we moved down to only 6, I Woukd strongly consider him. I like him a tad over Derek Barnett
here's another late round small school sleeper for everyone:

I am still high on Harris. I don't know what happened to him at the combine, but I am going to trust the tape.
Daeshon Hall -- not receiving anywhere near the buzz I think he should, probably due to being over shadowed by Myles Garrett.. I read something about him being weak in the pass rush, but the film begs to differ?? A 3rd-4th round projection for a guy with his ability and versatility, I love this guy.
Tarell Basham

Great player, probably a little more raw than some of the other pass rushers in the first couple rounds though.

I am not exactly sure what you're talking about. In addition to great get off and body pliability, Rivers has some of the most refined hand technique in the draft. I think he's only second to Carl Lawson. Rivers consistently shows up on tape with great hand placement and hand technique to create leverage.

The hand placement here is top notch. Attacks the outer half of the tackles chest plate and uses an outside pull move to clear the inside swim move. Flattens out and gets the QB.

Clears the tackles hands, tucks that inside shoulder, and flattens. This is where that 6.94 3-cone shows up on tape. Flattens out immediately once he's won the corner.

Hand swipes the tackle to clear his path. Are we watching the same player?

Those are three gifs demonstrating three different types of hand technique. Another thing that jumps out is how effortlessly he flattens out after he's beat the tackle. His combine numbers match the tape. I think you might want to pay a little more attention when you watch his tape.

here's a little speed to power as a bonus get off? check. inside hand placement? check. ankle/knee/hip pliability? check. explosiveness? check.

I think you might want to watch the video i posted against stronger comp. Anybody can show great technique against the tackle at Indiana Baptist State University
Let me watch that WVU game...

Derek Rivers show off his great hands literally 2 minutes into the West Virginia tape. That's a sack if the right tackle wasn't holding.

beautiful bull-n-pull move here

WV ran a lot of RPOs with run-sets by the OL, 3-step drops, etc. That's what may be inhibiting what you're seeing. He spent a lot of time anchoring and keeping contain due to the all the OL run sets.

With that said, I've watched more than enough tape to feel confident about Rivers and his technique. This guy is good, really good.
