Yeah I know, but I really don't see what's worthy of a praise there. It's not like he covered him. QB's bad pass made him relevant again in that play.
Like mayolck stated
"WOW play by Derek Barnett..RB motions and Barnett bumps out on WR-not planned !! Covers him 24 yds downfield vs fade- RARE..premier edge guy"
Not even a planned play, shows he can do more than just be a 3rd down pass rusher specialist.

To have a glaring weakness such as that, for me, puts you in the lower first round/early second round.

This dude deserves more attention. He is a better and more complete pass rusher than Myles Garrett. If he was longer he'd be the #1 overall pick. He's only held back by his size. He's elite in every other phase of the game, including leadership.

His numbers are somewhat inflated thanks to DC Bob Shoop, who's aggressive style of defense helped Carl Nassib get 15.5 sacks at Penn. State last year. He also is more a 4-3 end then a 3-4 linebacker so not really a fit for the 49ers.

This....dude played impressively. Nasty inside pass rush move. Show better coverage???????? he wasnt supposed to be in coverage in the first place. The fact that he recognized the uncovered WR, had the instinct to shift out in coverage, and could run with him is rare. Would have likely been a huge play if he doesnt do that.

Yeah he just another one to add to the long list of pass rush studs in this draft

Had 19 sacks before shoop got there gonna have to see the measurables to see if he's a 3-4 OLB.
Walterfootball said this...
"Barnett's body type might fit better in a 3-4 defense in the NFL. It wouldn't be surprising if he's actually 6-foot-2, and is a little short on length to be a 4-3 defensive end on an every-down basis. In a 4-3, he might need to be rotated more. Barnett could fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker."
