Should we "Tank" the season for the 1st draftpick

Should we "Tank" the season for the 1st draftpick

We don't need to tank to get the first pick. Trading is also an option

so we can risk getting a Jared Goff or a Jadaveon Clowney?
if we do end up picking in the top 5 , I wouldn't be against trading it for extra picks , because we need help all across the board , and one player will not improve this team dramatically anyway , and Baalke needs to be gone before we start evaluating talent for next years draft , and next year we cant afford to be drafting any injured project players , Baalke has gambled away our future by repeatedly drafting injured players , we need a GM that can spot talent and help strengthen our team, Baalke failed to improve the team through the draft and free agency , he should have been shown the door the same time Tomsula was relieved of his duties
Tanking a season for an uncertain player is dumb.
Experiment not tank . Ok we lack playmakers and overall talent fair enough but with that being said lets see what we do have . Kap gets the start ok fine we can try that out to see what he has in him but also lets give ponder a game or 2 and see if hes worth keeping around as a back up next year making gabbert expendable . When davis gets healthy i say we need to hand him the rock , let the kid lose and see what he brings to the table and finally find out if hes capable of backing up hyde. How about rush ? The guy is sitting on the practise squad (to my dismay) we should bring him up and throw him in the mix , who knows the guy cant be worse then hodges and he had a great effort in preseason and we rewarded him with nothing . The rest of the players should be rolled in and out and evaluated , next year we start knowing what we truly need and we have the cap space to make us competitive agian .
yes
Oh that's what we are doing?

Hell yes. We should've also tanked last year and in 2010. Could've had Patrick Peterson over Aldon Smith and Jalen Ramsey over Buckner had we lost a meaningless last game.

High picks add value to a bad team. You could cash in and trade for a load of high picks like the Titans or grab a corner that will stop your GM from grabbing 7 other corners for the next 3 drafts.
This has come up the past few years...for players, I can say it isn't part of their DNA. They play to win and that's it. Some fans think about it, but players, coaches, GM's, owners et al simply don't think that way. Having the no. 1 pick is a blessing and a curse, all in one. It can be a blessing if you trade down...because if you make the right deal, you can get more high picks than anyone else. It can be a curse if you stand pat, take a QB, for example, and he doesn't pan out. I'd expect Kap to play well in Kelly's offense...of course, he doesn't have enough playmakers, but I'd think once he gets back in the swing of things he'll be able to make enough plays to snap the O out of their doldrums. Only time will tell, but an energized Kap could be just the elixir the offense needs. We'll see. Anyway, for me, you never want a team to tank the season...for any reason.

If you aren't making the playoffs, play younger talent to develop for next season and rest the vets. You'll then have live reps and film to evaluate them instead of practice film. I still don't understand why we played Boldin against the Rams last season when we had all those young unproven WRs.

Rings are all that matter. So we're 4-12 instead of 3-13, how great is that?.

this 1000x

In order to actually "tank" it would mean the coaching staff would have to be actively making decisions to lose games. If that were to happen, the NFL investigators would come down hard on SF. Too much gambling/fantasy football money involved to allow even a hint of such stuff.

Some would argue that we already are.

But, no, never.

I want to win.

We need impact players, and the only place you get those, short of being just dumb lucky, is at the top of the draft. We need a QB and a pass rusher, though not necessarily in that order. The best of those will be gone by 7 or 8 at least.

Who is this "we" you are referring to? Because no one here has any say in the matter & no player/coach would ever do that.

The "tanking" began after nobody was picked up in free agency and baalke failed to draft impact players.
