Compare Willis to Jack

One of my all-time favorite Niners is Patrick Willis.

To get a better understanding of how Jack will perform in the pros -

How would you guys compare Patrick "Pre-Draft" to Jack?

Both are fast, strong, smart etc.

How do you see Jack playing using Willis as a yardstick.

Where would they be similar?

Where would Patrick excel and where would Jack excel in comparison?

Thoughts??

Patrick was a natural LB compared to Jack who is more Jamie Collins a freak athletically but Jack is more aggressive IMO

Jack would add to the element we lack in a LB who can cover the slot, TEs and Rbs.

Where is the love for this guy from the webzone, he's coming to visit and yet no article on him? Sad!

Agree
I think Willis was a far more polished product, more game ready than most prospects in recent memory, better at the point of attack, fighting through blockers, better overall instincts.

Jack is more a "jack of all trades" type, better suited for coverage but gets washed out a lot going against blockers. Coverage-wise I think he'd be a top 3 LB in the NFL from day one. For as big as he is, he's shown the ability to hang with WR's, let alone TE's and RB's. In that regards he'd be the ultimate dream fit for a Tampa 2 scheme. Teams have tried him out at safety so he'd be a very versatile guy that could be used in a number of ways by a creative defensive coordinator.

I could see his upside being a Derrick Brooks type of LB, although even faster but he's still fairly raw at this point.

Trade up and draft jack.
Highly productive.
Game changer.
We have the means, so baalke needs to do it--and change the face if the D.

117 solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF and 4 INT's in 29 games. Not sure I'd quantify that as "highly productive."

It's a shame he got injured because it would have been interesting to see if his production increased without Kendricks or Barr around.

Agree

Had to call them out! Finally!
Willis was a true ILB with speed and power. Average in coverage.

Jack is a hybrid with same speed, less power, but much better in coverage.
Willis was by far a more complete LB then Jack, Jack is still learning the position while I think he's a stud ( and would be more than happy if we draft him) he wasn't on the same field as Willis coming out of the draft.

Agree but Jack is younger with more athleticism than Willis the kid has upside and in the draft I believe that's what you look for would be a great addition IMO

This. Willis was an ILB through and through, a thumper type of LB but with much more athleticism than you would expect from a guy like that. 4.51 40, 22 on the bench press and a 39 inch vertical at the Combine showed off his ridiculous athletic talent.

Jack is also a super athletic guy, a prototypical 4-3 WLB with coverage ability that puts him in the highest echelon among NFL LB's.
I'd be fine with drafting him at 7 but not trading up for him considering he is coming off injury.

As for comparisons. . . They are both highly touted LBs?

Yup I'd be more than happy to see him in SF...Willis was more of a true ILB IMO
If we draft him in the 1st and Smith with a 3rd or 4th, are ILB would be set for years.

Wouldn't mind drafting Smith with our 4th round pick

My ideal draft would be:

Jack 1st round
Garnett in the 2nd round
