MadDog49er 2016 NFL Draft Best Board Top 50 and Draft Board by Position

I think that is a pretty good comp for him. He has the talent to make a contribution soon for an NFL team. Someone like the Texans could us him in that middle second round, and that is about where he will land, in my opinion.

Why 13 on this list? I had to get down to a former student of mine, Skura, who was Pro Football Focus' top graded center in 2016. Keep an eye on Friend as a draftee. Not talked about much, but alpha male, team captain centers who can throw up bar a lot of times get drafted. Same principal applies to Allen, who may have caused more damage to Connor Cook than anyone else by being the supreme leader of the offense at MSU.

A lot of intriguing options. #'s 4-8 in particular are all guys that I like quite a bit.

Bruce Arians specifically was talking about that the other day and how many top centers in the past have been conversion guys and not direct from college centers.

Everything the more reliable beat guys are reporting here seems to indicate that the Cards would absolutely love to jump on Ryan Kelly in the 1st round though as well as taking a QB such Prescott, Hackenberg or Jones in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

MD, have just reread the 32 pages, and was thinking about Jaws QB board this a.m.....where he has Paxton lynch going at 41. Saw some film again and a guy 6'7" , 240....do you see him as a guy we might go back and pick up at 35(or 37,whatever)...or with Goff and Wentz now going 1, 2, do you expect Conner and Lynch to be long gone by then? I mean, QBs, once they get going, seem to go as a herd and there are going to be some teams that don't get what they think they are getting , with these guys going so high.

oops, cancel that request....just saw Lynch at 15 on your big board....so btm line is QBs are ending up going way the heck and gone way above where their talent level is. And that also means some of these guys are going to disappoint mightily to whomever buys them. Hmmm....

Kelly a top 15 talent. Hope he is there at 37. but might not make it. Players like Mitch Morse are becoming more of the future of centers, college left tackles with great talent, and arms in the 32-33" range. It makes sense, especially for teams who want their centers on the move.

Do you still see Myles Jack as the #1 prospect? If there are no medical questions, then its likely he gets picked before 7, no? If he's in play, then there seems to be a pretty good chance MJ, Buckner or Tunsil will be available at 7. And thats not even factoring in a unexpected move like Dallas picking Elliot or something like that.

My no medical issues board would be:
1. Jack
2. Jaylon Smith
3. Ramsey

There will be an outstanding prospect on the board at 7. The worst case scenario might be deciding between Jack, and his knee, and Stanley, who is a LT prospect, but has played RT at ND, and was pretty good at the position.

Elliott at four would help the cause...a LOT.

All of this being said, if we remain at 7, don't be surprised if we throw the draft a curveball and select Lawson or Conklin. But, if Tunsil or Buckner is on the board, they have to make that selection. Hopefully, both are on the board with the Ravens at 6, guaranteeing one for us.

Lynch will be LONG gone by 41. The first checkpoint should be the Browns at 8, but then has to swing past the Saints, Bears, Jets, Broncos, etc. just in the first round. I have wierd feeling the Saints will pick him.

While Lynch is my number three QB, he is way down my best board. Highest ceiling, but needs a ton of work. Second round value to me.

I don't like Cook at all. He is my number 10 QB. I see him dropping down to the third round. Expect C. Jones or Hackenberg to go fourth and fifth, and then Cook to be the 6th QB selected.

Why did Buckner slide down on your list? I know you're still high on him, but I remember reading that he was the top player in the draft at one point. Was it his combine?

MadDog with the scenario for Lynch you just listed, do you feel like Trent is going to try to work out a trade back to let someone jump ahead of the Brown and do you feel like this is a wise move? Or do you feel we should stay put for a talent we can't pass up projected to fall to us at 7?

Been wavering on Jack, since his medicals are a big mystery. Moved him back down yesterday, so Buckner is third for me, after Ramsey and Elliott. Buckner had a good combine, but I thought it would be better. I thought he would run closer to 4.80 than 5.00, and closer to 1.70 than 1.80 in the 10 yard, and that did not happen. But, he jumped well, and his short shuttle (which is huge factor for future success for DL) was really good.

In the end, I think a couple guys just blow me away as future prospects. Ramsey is about the most athletic football players we will see in this generation, and Elliott is about the most complete RB's we will see in this generation.

Buckner may be the most NFL-ready DL in this draft, simply based on the gauntlet of players he faced this year, most who will be drafted, and some fairly early: Conklin, Dahl, Garnett, Seumalo, Westerman, Nembot.

I think we have to see who is on the board, but you risk moving back too far. If I am moving back, I am targeting someone like Doctson, because the OT's will all be gone, and the top edge rushers as well (Bosa, Lawson).

In the end, if the team stays at 7, they will land a starting RT in Stanley or Conklin, a stud DL in Buckner, or even Elliott, who has to be considered. He is simply too good to bypass without a long look.

Possible trade partners: Miami at 13 in order to pick Elliott; Tennessee at 15 to grab Conklin or Stanley.

Honestly, if I am the Raiders, I am going all in, move up to 7, and draft Elliott. Can you image how good that team might look in a few years with Carr, Elliott, Cooper?

Updated Best Board. Moved Jack down due to knee concerns. I want to believe because he is so good. Just too risky at 7 if the medical reports show potential long term issues.
