Myles Garrett - Edge Rusher

I got a sneaky suspicion that the Browns get a W next week.

I hate to break up the party, but I think the Browns will take Garrett as No.1 overall while using their second 1st round pick from the Eagles to take a franchise QB. The Eagles' 1st round pick is rising as we speak since they are losing plus they have a hell of a tough schedule before the end of the season, it will easily end up as a top 10 pick. The question is whether the 9ers, Bears and Cards will take a QB before them.

If I'm Browns, I'm taking Garrett too. Yes, you need a QB to win in this league...but you also need to be able to stop the opposing QB as well. Elite pass-rush makes defense so much easier for everyone else.

I just hope Browns do what Browns do.

I tend to agree. Garrett is the consensus best player in the draft, so it makes a lot of sense that the Browns would take him. The only ray of hope is that there were reports 2-3 weeks ago that the Browns are really high on Trubisky. It's hard to know how much stock to put in those reports though. I tend to agree with what you're saying, especially since, like you said, the Browns have a second pick in the first round.

They need 2 wins for it to really matter

Nope, if they win one. We jump up to the #1 spot because of the SOS.

You sure? I think they have a harder SOS than us currently.

The Browns do have Jamie Collins, they could lock him up to a contract and take a QB. Or they could trade out so someone else can grab Garrett.

I forgot about Collins you are right about that. Another DE who is on the rise and could challenge Garrett's top status is Jonathan Allen, 19 sacks in two years. Allen reminds me Aaron Donald only a bit more athletic. The Browns do need help on the D-line and Allen can line up on either side of the DL, he's a terror off the LOS. Browns have a lot of options though, I still wouldn't doubt it if they traded down again but staying in the top 10, it wouldn't shock me if Chicago traded up for Trubisky. If 49ers can maintain the #2 spot Garrett should be there for the taking.

Hard to call it. Well, the Texans already had JJ Watt AND Mercilus (both 1st round DE picks), but guess what? They still took Clowney anyway (like Garrett who was also rated as not just the top DE, but player by some margin in the 2014 draft). That is 3 x 1st round DEs within the space of 4 years. Plus if their second 1st round pick becomes high enough, they could still take a top franchise QB prospect after Garrett.

I think Matt Miller (draft scout) was predicting that the Browns would take Allen as he is a much better scheme fit and they have good talent on the edges already.

I really hope that's true as Garrett would fit us like a glove.

Haven't been as excited about a prospect since Patrick Willis. Garrett is like one of those ridiculous Build-A-Player creations from Madden.
Not to beat a dead horse, but despite all Garrett's PR skills, if Baalke or a new GM doesn't beef up our DL significantly, taking him at #2 position will yield less value. I think comparisons of him to Aldon Smith are valid...but remember a huge reason for his success was Justin Smith. Right now, there's nobody close to his impact on the DL. The FO needs to spend some of their huge cap dollars on better DL talent as well as draft a couple of studs.

We just drafted 2 DE's
