Dak Prescott

I believe I saw 3 games where he was the QB last year. The first one I saw he was just OK. The second one he was pretty bad (wish I could remember which one), but the third one - he looked pretty good.....

...but I remember having the impression at the time that he seemed very inconsistent. I had heard his name a lot and there was a bunch of hype about him.

I can see taking a flyer on him later, but it's beginning to seem like he'll be gone before the third round. Is he really worth a second at this point? With the statement out from Baalke today about Kap (if true), we're committed for another year and have a backup in Gabbert.

Is Prescott significantly better than what will be available next year? (If we need a QB next year, it means both Kap and Blaine have sucked and we'll be picking near the top again)

A year ago I would have said definitely not. But after the way he played this year, yes I think he is worth it. He gives you a true dual-threat QB that has come a long way as a passer.


When you consider that he had a lousy OL, no run game and WR's that struggled to separate, his 2015 season looks even better.

He played in the same system as Tebow. Has similar leadership skills, a very mature guy, but he is far more developed as a passer with a much more natural, quick throwing motion.

I think no matter what they have to draft a QB this year. Kaepernick could still be traded and Gabbert is going to be an FA.

I'm an LSU fan so I've seen him a lot and I'm just not that impressed. He's very inconsistent

He had one of his best games of the year against LSU. I remember warching that game being very skeptical about him and I ended up pretty impressed.


Like I said, the difference between him in 2014 and 2015 was enormous. In 2014 he looked like he should move to RB or TE for the NFL.

In 2015 he looked like a bona-fide NFL QB prospect.

I'd like to see Goff or Wentz in the 1st but if they don't draft either of them, Prescott is my next favorite.

Wentz seems destined for Cleveland. Both could also be gone before 7, crazier things can and have happened. Prescott is probably the next best thing.

Getting an elite defensive prospect AND a guy like Prescott has to be viewed as a massive win for the Niners.

If there's one thing hurting Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott to some degree when it comes to the draft process, it's the obvious comparisons he gets to Tim Tebow. The size, the dual-threat ability, Dan Mullen's spread offense — there are certainly some similarities between the two.

However, fortunately for Prescott, one of the most qualified tape gurus in the business sees a much more polished passer than Tebow ever was.

"That's a waste of time," Greg Cosell of NFL Films told Satuday Down South. "The problem is I don't want to rip Tim Tebow, but Tim Tebow can't throw. This kid can throw. It's as simple as that. He gets the comparison because of Dan Mullen. That's the reason."

When watching Prescott reach back and fire, Cosell doesn't see Tebow. Instead, he sees a former six-time Pro Bowler with a Super Bowl appearance under his belt.

"He had spotty-type similarities to Donovan McNabb," said Cosell. "I thought the throwing motion was similar. He looks like McNabb. Some will see similarities to Brett Hundley. I believe Prescott is a better prospect because of his pocket comfort and overall throwing ability."

Hundley, the former UCLA signal caller, was a fifth-round selection of the Green Bay Packers a year ago. The consensus on Prescott currently is that he's a third- or fourth-rounder.

Hand size not an issue for him clearly. Some big old catchers mitts.

I only brought that up since Chip is big on hands size.

That'll help people get past his height of 6'2" -- not that it was a huge knock to begin with.
