I just don't think the team value wide receivers that high. Smelter is in the wings and Boldin has another year left in him. If Baalke doesn't go QB which I think he will I can see him looking at the D line and linebackers in the 1st and leaving OL to the 2nd and maybe another rb in the 3rd.
Name in the envelope? Goff.

Who's name is in Baalke's envelope?

With a weak crop of FA WRs, I think Baalke trades back and selects John Doctson.
Honorable mentions to the newly injured Jaylen Smith and Kendall Fuller in the 2nd.
Wait you think Doctson will be the pick at 5?? Smith most likely tore his ACL the other day.

I think he trades back for him. He's right up there with Treadwell though.

If we are on the clock with Goff sitting there and baalke doesn't pick him--he is a bigger dips**t than I thought.

Hate it...I don't even see doctson as a 1st round pick. I think treadwell is by far better and I'd rather draft mike Thomas over him. I'd be pretty upset if went down like that and I think the fan base as a whole would have a meltdown.

I think in both cases everything first depends on who the coach is and what system we run offensively.
If Baalke passes on a QB it could be that he and potentially a new HC/OC don't love the QB's at the top or see better value elsewhere for the position.
It is early in the draft process...a lot can and does change.

It depends on who the new coach is (if there is a new coach), Holmgren could develop a young quarterback. Chip Kelly could resurrect Kap's career and draft elsewhere. That's two options.

Thomas is overrated. He's a 2nd rounder and has nothing on Doctson.

We'll see how today unfolds, but at #5 I dont see Goff being there. A lot can change between now and the draft, but Goff appears to be running away with the QB race.

If left to his own devices, Baalke would no doubt pick somebody like Ogbah or Jalen Ramsey. But too much pressure from the fan base NOT to take Goff if he's there.
My guess is it's Goff.
