Oh and don't worry about the rookie QB, he will probably be sitting behind a vet for the first year anyway unless he totally smokes Gabbert or whoever free agent QB vet we might sign in his first training camp.

Exactly. We need to look long term here. Our defense isn't that bad actually. The Achilles heal is our offense. We need players at almost every position. That's the luxury of the hard cap. We lost so many players in the past few years that it's our turn to have money to spend on free agents and I'm positive we'll be focusing on the OL.

Smith is my favorite player, but we Goff is the guy. I think potentially, Smith has a much better chance of being the top LB in this league than Goff has of being the top QB, but it's the value in the position. We need a franchise guy. I truly wished Gabbert showed more in his time starting that I'd be comfortable passing on Goff.

He's a good QB prospect. Those are rare.

He's easily better than Mariota or Winston.

When this poll first started, I think it was like 70% Jaylon Smith and 30% Jared Goff. Look at it now, is almost even Stevens. Give it a little more time, I reckon Jared Goff will take the lead soon all the way until the draft.

In a day, it jumped another couple of % points, we are now at 48% Jaylon Smith and 47% Jared Goff. I am absolutely convinced the fans are really coming to their senses.

Now, let's get blown out on Sunday and keep working on getting the worst record we can. Let's see where 4-12 will get us.

I'll puke if it's goff. Way better value with Wentz in the second. Hmm let's see Jaylon and Wentz or goff and someone random

Coming from a guy who liked Tim Tebow...

Goff isn't guaranteed to be great, but at this point I like his chances a lot more than any QB currently on the roster. It's a risky pick but we're never going to get a guaranteed franchise QB like Luck unless we have a #1 or #2 pick in a draft that has generational talent at the QB position. Most teams have to take a chance picking a QB who isn't Andrew Luck. It's also a risk to pass on Goff and Lynch if they're there for our first pick and hope our guy falls to us in the 2nd round or we'll be in position to draft a QB next season.

Unless you're the Colts and have Luck fall into your lap after having Peyton Manning, you have to take risks at the QB position. It just comes down to whether the 49ers think Goff is the BPA or close to it. I think we're already lucky that arguably the best QB in the draft grew up a 49ers fan and may want to play here, because this offense is bad enough that free agents or rookies may refuse to come here (the discussion about Brees finishing his career here was absurd). I don't want to draft anyone who doesn't want to be a 49er and that could rule out a lot of players this year.

Lmao. I hated Tebow during the draft. But after he played no one can say he didn't win.
Smith would be the way to go! Gabbs needs a real shot here lets give it to him he's been great considering our o line has been horrendous we have no running game whatsoever anquan had lost more then a step and can't beat average cbs I'm not trying to hate on Boldin but it's the truth he's not the same player. Torry Smith isnt a complete wr he's a burner. Not a #1a. Oh and I forgot to mention Geeps HORRIBLE play calling. Wander what Hue Jackson could do for Gab after seeing Andy Daltons progression. We need a lot but why try to fill a hole that might not need filled with so many obvious needs

Only in your opinion. But, plenty of folks disagree with you.
