Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson - Legit alternative to Jared Goff in 2017?

Watson looked FUGLY against FSU last night. Made a few nice throws, mostly to wide open receivers. His picks were reminiscent of Kaepernick. One of them, he stares down first read and throws it in to double coverage, basically a gift wrapped INT. He looks nervous in the pocket and doesn't go through a progression. He has a good enough arm, he just can't read a defense.

PASS.

If he can't go through progressions and read a defense in college, he's not going to get magically better at it in the NFL. I would pass as well.

he is nothing like Kap. and he does go thru his progressions... I'll give you that at times he stares down his first read but that doesn't mean he can't read a defense

Look at his passing numbers against ranked teams...I think he can read a defense. He is a good QB prospect and possibly the best one for Chips system.

I haven't watched a single Clemson game yet this year cos they haven't shown one here. But, I have watched Kizer in a few games, he is way overrated. He has a habit of consistently under-throwing and he takes a huge wind-up much like Kap. For now, I am passing on him too.

I think is time to look beyond just these two. Isn't Mitch Tribusky very high on the analysts' lists now? Any thoughts on this guy?

I think Mitch will end up the first QB taken and it will be by us if if we can't get Garrett

agreed...and I can live with that.

Absolutely. I would rather trade back to 6-10 and take whoever is there between Kizer, Watson and Trubisky (one of them will be there) as all 3 would be fine by me, I just don't think they are worth a top 5 pick. However, in a perfect world, if we can pick up some extra picks and then get them, that would be phenomenal value ....if we can't land Garrett

I literally posted video from the FSU game showing him reading a defense and exhibiting great pocket presence. It is amazing the extent to which some people will distort reality.

He did have the two bad picks, I will give you that. He owned up to that after the game.

He threw for 378 yards at a 63% completion rate. He threw two TDs and a 2 pt conversion. He ran successfully as well when opportunities arose. Most importantly he once again led the team down the field for a winning score AGAIN.

I would love to know in what universe his performance vs FSU on the road in a huge game would be called "FUGLY".

See I don't think they will be there in a trade back, regardless if they are or aren't the best prospects they play a position that is needed to make your team go.

I would love to trade back and get any of those three just don't see it happening

It wasn't a bad performance at all....it's crazy what people will say just because they don't like a prospect.

Is he Andrew luck coming out of college? No, but he's a very good qb prospect with a ton of potential. No off field crap, looks like he's gained weight (eveyone was crying about that), and hasn't been a run first QB this yr in a system that is meant for that.

End of the day if we end up with Watson I'll be happy.

You think all 3 will go top 10? They aren't exactly Manning, Rivers and Big Ben I don't see it. I think two at the most will go top 5 but I got Garrett, Fournette, Peppers and Robinson all better prospects than those 3 QBs which leaves room for 1, maybe 2 at the most with one of those better prospects dropping out...but not all 3. One of them will be there 6-10, I guarantee that

Yeah it's early not even sure all three declare...I see three teams right off the bat in the top 5 that need a qb in the Browns, 49ers, Bears and then teams like the bills and jets could very well be in the market for a qb.

We will see
