Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson - Legit alternative to Jared Goff in 2017?

Not just that, but watch how many times he will opt to FORCE a throw to his first read rather than moving his eyes and looking elsewhere. It's very reminiscent of Kaepernick, and something that will have NFL defensive coordinators salivating.

My thing these QBs who have all of these great gifts in terms of arm strength, ability to run, etc if they weren't drafted so high, could sit for a bit, similar to how Bill Walsh handled Joe Montana or even the Oiler/Titans with Steve McNair. Give them time to work on the flaws. If they were willing to put in the work, by the time they became a starter, they would be almost unstoppable, provided there are no issues with accuracy.

I wouldn't go anywhere near this guy with a top 10 pick. That INT he just threw was reminiscent of Kaepernick throwing directly Kam Chancellor in the NFC Championship game.

Or reminiscent of the one he threw just two weeks ago. He's had a pretty good game otherwise but I have no clue what he was looking at on that interception.

Larry Williams ‏@LarryWilliamsTI 24m24 minutes ago That was exactly the same coverage N.C. State used to get a Pick-6 on Deshaun Watson two weeks ago

Wasn't very impressed with Watson today except for that last drive when the team needed it the most.

When they talk about intangibles and that "it" special quality Watson clearly has it. He's a good QB...still not sure if he's worth a top top 5.

there's a lot to like about watson, but those flaws i posted about are absolutely disconcerting. i feel like those particular weaknesses only become exacerbated at the next level when defenses are a lot more sophisticated and the throwing windows shrink in size.

it would be so much easier if myles garrett is on the board when we pick. :D

I think he will only get better, the bonehead interceptions are him reading the defense wrong which is fixable if he is dedicated to watching film and studying..regardless the mistakes he is a winner and leader and has proved he steps up big when it means most..i want him to be a niner bad..
He made a couple of bad throws, but he went 27-43 for 378 yards and 2 TDs while running for 52 yards. Over 400 yards of offense on the road in a night game in Tallahassee and led the team down the field AGAIN when it mattered most. Just like in the Louisville game, he led the team down the field at money time. GTFO with the first read stuff. There were several times in the game, including in the fourth quarter, where he pumped, reset, and found open guys after coming off his first read. He scaled the pocket and used his pump to influence the defense. He also had a couple of NFL throws such as the throw to Cain down the sideline that he wedged in a tiny window between the corner and safety and the clutch throw to Renfrow on third and long (after again negotiating the pocket) to set up a doable fourth down on an eventual scoring drive.

I also like the fact that he owns up to his mistakes. He just told the press after the game that he made two bonehead decisions on the INTs and that he needs to do better in those situations. The kid is a great leader which is part of the reason he is something like 25-2 as a starter, with his only losses coming when he injured his knee (team was ahead at the time and in scoring position again) and when they lost to Bama in the title game. He has so much composure, and the team feeds off of his leadership.
