Shanahan has worked with QB's in the past that struggled with the same issues, he made them look good. Why wouldn't he be able to do the same with Watson?

Who are these QB's that had the same issues, in particular struggling as much across the middle? Watson's INT's aren't a concern so much because he threw them but it seemed like a majority of the time they happened because he flat out didn't see the defender in the area. He's going to face far more complex coverage schemes in the NFL, so him being able to see the whole field is definitely a major concern.

I'd like to think his play against both Ohio State and Alabama show he can handle a more complex and talented defensive scheme and succeed. It's not like he face planted against a team like Stanford.

Except due to the nature of Clemson's offense, teams were running largely vanilla schemes against them. Cosell noted that as well. When you run a hurry-up spread type offense, it limits the substitutions and the type of coverage looks a defense can provide. Since Chip Kelly is no longer head coach, it would be safe to assume that he won't be running that style of offense most of the time in the NFL.

Isn't a vanilla scheme what the better D's in the NFL run because they don't have to come up with trick plays to garner pressure? Talent vs talent.

This said if we're talking hurry-up spread type offenses, didn't all 4 of the top QB's play in similar spread systems in one way or another? How he played against the top teams in the most pressure situations should be what's taken into consideration.

Depends on the quarterback they are facing, the Patriots for example love to throw all kinds of different looks at a team based on the personnel. Fangio did the same thing. You blitz the hell out of younger QB's and give them different coverage looks that force them to find the correct read.

People were calling him frail, he's actually just as big as Trubisky the weight lifter.
Watson came in with really good size. I like it.

Both he and Trubisky have to feel good about today!
those measurements are nice! making millions by those numbers alone.
Yea people were calling him small jointed and talking like he had small Michael Vick hands. Some of the bigger hands out of the prospects, taller than 6"2 and 221 pounds. And he's still only 21 so you know he's gonna put on some more weight.
Please don't try to explain away what he did vs the likes of Ohio State and Bama. Larry Fedora operates a hurry-up, spread system as well at UNC (they actually averaged 41 ppg in his first season back in 2012) that he honed as an assistant at UF and OKST. Cosell could say that crap about any of the top prospects this year.

sign Alshon and draft Watson, instant credibility on offense with Shanny calling the shots
Per mike Lombardi

"Deshaun Watson is impressing every team with his knowledge of the offense his understanding of coverages and personnel and leadership skills"
