Joey Bosa, our savior

Yeah, Bosa might look bad to some, but he sure as hell is not the bad guy in that whole situation. I don't know that he'll ever amount to anything in the league, but the owners have bent the players over and expect them to like it. Corporations (of which the NFL is one) have far too much power in this country, over their employees and their customers, and yet some fans eat up the NFL owner's BS and side with them. WTF? Good for Bosa for standing up for what the CBA gives him, he shouldn't set a precedent for caving in just because the team expects him to, and shame on the Chargers for squabbling over what amounts to pennies for them. I'm glad the Chargers are making the 49ers look good by comparison.

There's precedent for what the Chargers are offering Bosa and there is precedent for what Bosa and his agents are asking for. In the end they are squabbling over relatively minor concerns and screwing themselves over in the process. Bosa now stands to start losing real money and the Chargers are missing out on having a potential impact rookie out on the field and risk the possibility of losing the pick altogether. They are both behaving foolishly.

Repeating false claims doesn't make them any more true.

The #1 picks in 2013, 2014 and 2015 as an example all had offset language and signing bonus deferrals.

i should clarify every 3rd round pick has had and out of top 5 picks since 2012 all but 3 has had

i agree but chargers have had a history of screwing up like this with top picks

eli got traded

LT held out for 50 days (2x as long as bosa if he signed today)

in fact chargers have had 5 top 5 selections since 2000

all of them were hold outs

If you follow Joel Corry, its actually been more than 3. Its just that three straight #3 picks have had either no offset language or no salary bonus deferrals but two of those picks have been by Jacksonville which is one of only two NFL franchises to not insist on offset language.

Eitherway there is precedent for what the Chargers are asking and there is precedent for what Bosa's agent is asking for. Someone has to cave sooner or later because this protracted holdout isn't benefiting either player or team.

Bosa doesn't stand to make any additional money and is going to start losing money.

The Chargers could use a good season and a team that would make some noise, draw fan support in order to help them build a stadium. Bosa not being out on the field only hinders them from doing that. At this point you'd have to think that any contributions they get from him will be limited and that is on them for their negotiating posture.
this is the interesting part..

What if he sits the year, and gets drafted with the 3rd overall pick again?? will he make more than what he should have this year??

or, what if he gets drafted between 4th to 7th pick next draft, will that still be MORE or LESSER than his position now??

Let me put it this way. You are the GM and you have a really high pick. You must make it work for your team. Now look at this guy. If he does go back in the draft, which I doubt, aren't you going to doubt his level of commitment to the game? He sat out a whole year of a short career? For me, that is just taking a huge risk. If you are drafting mid to late, maybe you take that risk. But that early?

Depends what Bosa does in the year off in the unlikely situation that he re-enters the draft. If he gets in the best shape of his life and improves on all his combine numbers, I'd tend to believe that this was an unfortunate situation that the Chargers did not handle well, but he's committed to football.

The guy can play and he'll still be the same age as a lot of the first round prospects next year. A new team would have to iron out contract details before drafting him, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him go in the 7-10 range if his season off is productive.

as an OLB he should go after garret and maybe lawson but he should be 2-3 OLB taken no doubt based on talent
Bosa signed.

Exactly! People overreact to this stuff every time. The only guy I can remember even holding out through a good portion of the season in the last 15 years is Bryant McKinnie. And that was before the new CBA.

His threats have about as much bite to them as Von Miller's B.S. statement that there's no way he'd play this year under the franchise tag. It's all just posturing, and it'll run its course.

That isnt even the point. The guy is a rookie missing valuable reps every single day that this continues. Its not helping either him or the Chargers for this to continue on.

So? It takes 2 to tango. He should just take whatever they offer? This is his rookie deal. He could be the next Andre Johnson (1996 Washington Redskins version).

This will have zero effect on his career, overall. And the Chargers will come in 3rd or 4th place with or without him anyway, so this is the non'est of non-stories ever.

As I said, this was a non-story. Business as usual.

All the credit should go to his teammates on the first sack who actually pushed the pocket. He was just the beneficiary and cleaned it up. The 2nd sack was more legitimate, but he doesn't get it if Liuget doesn't push the pocket back.

He did have a nice tackle for a loss and beat Penn on the edge for what was almost another sack. Really solid first game and it looks like he can play the pass and run, but I don't think he'll hit 10 sacks this year. I'd take him over Buckner from what we've seen so far.

2 sacks, 4 QB hurries and 2 TFL in only 27 snaps. He stepped in and immediately made some plays. Good for him
