Even if offered a draft pick for hyde, id rather take an Aaron Jones this year and wait for next year's generational prospect in Saquon Barkley

According to the Chicago Tribune, there was "scuttlebutt in league circles" Monday night that the 49ers could take Leonard Fournette at No. 2 overall.
Ex-NFL personnel man Greg Gabriel tweeted something similar on Tuesday. The Chicago Trib's Brad Biggs also passes along "chatter" that the Jaguars are looking into quarterbacks at the No. 4 pick, while it's believed at least half of the teams drafting inside the top ten hope to move down. If a team like the 49ers can't execute a move down the board, we suppose it's possible they could settle for someone like Fournette. It's been reported that the 49ers are considering "giving up" on contract-year RB Carlos Hyde due to persistent injuries.

One report says the 49ers will surprise people at pick 2, suggesting their pick could be Leonard Fournette.
There's a lot of mystery surrounding the 49ers first round draft pick with just two days to go before the NFL Draft, but one former NFL scouting director tweeted Tuesday he knows who the pick will be and that it will come as a surprise.
Greg Gabriel of ProFootballWeekly.com, who was once scouting director for the Bears, tweeted Tuesday the 49ers will not be picking a quarterback at pick 2 and "that the guy they are taking will shock all."
The player Gabriel is referring to might be LSU running back Leonard Fournette, based on a later tweet he posted that said "If you're looking for who SF really wants, look no further than a certain big RB from Bayou country".
Selecting Fournette wouldn't come as a complete surprise given that there's been multiple reports in the past saying the 49ers were interested, but it would certainly make some waves. Most are projecting the 49ers will select a defensive player, assuming they aren't able to trade out of the No. 2 spot, although general manager John Lynch insisted Monday the team's preferences haven't leaked out of team facilities. Lynch also said the 49ers have narrowed their focus to two or three players.
"We're zeroing in on who that player is, and I can tell you when we do, we're all going to feel real passionate," Lynch told the NFL Network. "So it's going to have to be something extremely worthwhile to get us to (trade down) because I think at that pick, what you're looking for is a cornerstone game-changing player, and I believe those exist in this draft. I believe we're close to zeroing in on exactly who that is."
