OTC, you don't like the athletic potential of Waller or Smelter? McBride worries me. I never really was impressed by his ability to separate against low-level competition. That concerns me.
Love Buck Allen, hope he's a pick for us today. Clemmings/Allen/Waller in the 4th would make my morning. Smelter in the 6th/7th as a draft and stash would be gravy.

It's pretty much a freebie considering we didn't have that pick at the start of the draft, and the kid has a ton of potential. Yes, he's raw and has some pocket-awareness issues, but he could sit and learn the NFL game for at least a few years before he's ready to challenge Kap. Low risk, potential high-reward pick right there.
I graded Hundley and Petty neck and neck in terms of value. Both have different issues, but both have the potential to eventually "be something" if a team patient with them gives them a chance to sit and learn. I like both QBs because they're athletic signal callers and gamers that for the most part have stepped up when their teams needed them at crucial points in games. Would have no problem taking a QB with any pick from here on out, just didn't want one any earlier than the 4th.

Would love to get Ifo. Adrian Amos would be a great pick too.
Another safety in Amos?

I'm not sure we would double-up on safeties at this point, but the "Baalke injury special" is a definite possibility. We struck out on Lattimore, but maybe if they think Ekpre-Olomu has a better shot of recovery, they make the pick in the 4th-5th.

Yeah, I'd be surprised with that. I could become happy with it if they cut Dahl, but pissed if they cut McCray.

Man there's still a ton of good DL in the 3rd day (like I said there would be) I still don't get why we didn't move up for a play maker when we knew there would be plenty of talent later.

I simply had no idea that Javorius Allen's nick name was Buck.
As of this second, I am on his bandwagon.
Thank you.

Originally posted by TexasNiner:Originally posted by Phoenix49ers:Its clear that the front office is looking long-term, and in that case, with Armstead you're talking about a guy with a much higher ceiling than Anderson.
I agree with that. But I don't think the difference between Armstead and Anderson or Hardison is nearly as great as the difference between Johnson/Peters and the CBs we could get now, so for me Johnson or Peters and Hardison or Anderson would be a much better combo than Armstead and say Grant.
IMO, that would fill both our long term and short term needs with a higher combination of talent.
Baalke said they're pretty much sticking to their board and haven't really made any exceptions so far. Ultimately, the team must not have been convinced enough to rate Peters over Armstead and with the depth at corner in this draft, probably had the feeling that they could snag a better value that fit their board later on.
Baalke's comments about Shareece Wright being like Carlos Rogers make it seem like they fully believe he can be the starter. He's on a one year deal to prove it. Right now, I'm expecting them to open TC with Brock, Wright, and Dontae Johnson competing at the starting spots with Ward, Acker, Reaser and the rest, including whatever rookies we bring in, having to fight to overtake them.
