Found this on rotoworld. Made me feel a little better

Pinion (6'5/229) was about as dominant as punters get in college, landing 55 of his 140 career punts inside the opposing 20-yard line with only two career touchbacks. He doubled as the Tigers' placekicker and kickoff specialist. Pinion earned the rare distinction of declaring for the draft as a junior. Ideally built and very talented, Pinion could be a field-flipping weapon in the NFL.
Baalke has lost his mind

Honestly, he does look very impressive. Kick every kick out of the EZ. Can also be a PK. Big time hang time on punts...HUGE leg. Could also be a cost-cutting move to help pay for all these rookies.

Baalke is all about that field position!

How we haven't taken any OL, or CB or a WR or TE doesn't need a "redshirt" year due to injury/position change is beyond me.

seems like it.

Trent Baalke on kicker/punter: "...we feel good going into this season that it (making a change) probably isn't going to be this season."

CBS has him listed as the 12th punter on their site...but he's the second tallest and has the longest arms.

Paying a punter 3 or 4 million a season might be stupider than using end of the rounder 5th on one.

Andy Lee had a pretty average season last year, which was really weird to see. Maybe we can find a way to redshirt this P and get one more year out of Lee before his salary begins to jump.

Probably the least sexy pick of the draft, well the Pats may have beaten us with their pick, but it makes some sense, especially when fans start to cry about where all of our money is tied up and why we can't resign so and so.

Agree 100%

I don't think Baalke takes him in the 5th if he didn't have 4 more picks.

It seems as though they have their roster set and our ready to go to Training camp with who they have and let them battle it out. Numbers game and their roster is large enough as it is.

Just can't support taking a punter in the 5th. The 5th is the PRIME round to scoop up mid round guys that dropped, or jump out in front on late round guys you really like.

So far, this draft has been a roller coaster. I was pissed yesterday that they passed on all the WRs and RBs we needed, but then they pulled off that 4th round and got great looking players. So who knows... maybe we'll still get an intriguing ILB prospect, line depth, or a KR/PR in the 6th and 7th.

All that said, I would have kept our original pick in the round and drafted JJ Nelson.
This........sweet Jesus man!

You know, I'm starting to think that the 49ers draft strategy is to stay away from flashy star player picks that experts agree on. Not saying they are wrong but geez jaquisti tart? Sounds like a Dairy Queen treat, and a Pinter in round 5? Very strange since a fly lee is one of the best and 32 or 33...does not calculate.

Yes, Baalke likes to say "Ja Whiskey Tart", it's fun to say and rolls off the tongue

Its not sexy but its smart! Field position wins games. Remember Ray Guy? Guy was an absolute game changer.
If dude can be a kicker and a punter, saving a roster spot and being very good at both, it's a great forward thinking pick.
I know we lost to them in the Super Bowl and hate that we did, but Ozzie Newsome is kicking all kinds of azz with this draft. I'm not one to say Baalke is doing terrible as some are, but Newsome has done a great job at filling their immediate needs as well as getting good depth at the same time.

Also saves your PK leg by letting this guy do the kick-offs.
I can't believe I just watched a punter's draft tape....
