When S. Johnson and B. Lloyd were signed, webzoners celebrated. I pointed out that the team had gotten no better with them, because they didn't improve the quality of the starters. T. Smith is barely if at all an improvement over Crabtree. Again, I point out that these draft picks and acquisitions so far do not improve the chances of the team to have a winning record.

More like I didn't set myself up for disappointment by being convinced that a run-first team is going to go nuts taking a bunch of WR's early on in the draft. If people have unrealistic expectations of what sort of system this team is going to run, that's on them.


I've said for months now that defense, particularly the front seven was going to be a priority, because it was clear that is where this the team's strengths need to be in this system. People who lied to themselves and thought that the 49ers were going to go WR, WR, and WR, should have paid better attention to what Baalke and Tomsula and the rest were saying.

Tomsula also said he was fine with the DL. Baalke said that Justin's decision on retiring wasn't relevant to who they'd pick. I didn't want WR, WR, WR. But so far the team hasn' t picked a WR who will likely play this year. Some of us hoped the team would be more likely to have a winning record next season.
