2 round
He plays to soft IMO.. Way rather have Goldman at 15 if we go Dline.
Armistead's got some good things going for him...but if either Eddie Goldman or Malcolm Brown are still on the board when Baalke picks, I'd prefer one or the other. Both guys have the 3-4 prototype size, strength and quickness. They can also both play effectively inside or out, giving Tomsula/Mangini a lot of flexibility. I'd also be stoked if Baalke went DL and WR with his first 2 picks. Another viable scenario is for him to accept the best offer and trade down, getting another high pick in the process. I wouldn't be surprised if a CB and/or pass rusher end up being the first 2 picks. TB will know if Justin Smith is playing in 2015 or not by the draft...if he's not retiring, it could change the position he takes a DL.
^^^^^^^
I like Carl Davis better in th first round as well.
Look like Tarzan, play like Jane.
Agree. But Goldman is too slow, inconsistent push and let's RB's cut through his gap too often. Malcolm Brown is the best choice.

I don't like the Calais Campbell comparison to Armstead because Campbell was a f**king BALLER at The U. Armstead just offers similar size and potential.

Never understood the hype behind Dion Jordan. 6-6, 240 is waaaaaay too light in the ass, even Jason Taylor was heavier than that, he wasn't a 1st round pick and it is rare for an athlete THAT skinny to have the kind of power Taylor did.

The fact that Armstead, a player whose a huge gamble to ever be productive and put it all together, is one of the best options for us at #15 justify DGB to me that much more. If we are gonna be left with a gamble of a pick anyways... why not gamble on a player that has shown on the field that he can be gamebreaker at a position we desperately need help at?
If he just played the run he would be a top pick very inconsistent to my liking
Short arms for 6'7'' at 33'' and with a 5.10 40, the freak title can be removed. Not a 1st round pick.

I never thought he was, not sure where all this hype was coming from. I always saw him as a late 2nd rounder at best.
Next calais Campbell? Mockers are saying that projecting him to us
I don't care how fast he can run 40 yards in, if he ever has to run 40 yards in a game then our whole D just got roasted.

I'm really interested in how powerful and explosive he is off the snap. Calais Campbell ran a horrible 40 and only Justin Smith and JJ Watt are better 5-techniques.
Armstead's been an under-achiever...despite the "leaps & bounds" difference between 2013 and 14, his productivity didn't take a commensurate jump. Think he'd be a project to develop, not exactly what the Niners need IF Justin Smith retires and/or Carradine doesn't show he's the starter at the other DE position. I'm not totally opposed to Baalke taking him, but I'd caution fans to understand he's not likely to come in and earn a starting spot right away. He does have the frame for adding 10-15 lbs of muscle, which he'll likely need to compete against elite OL in the NFL.
