I haven't seen a thread for this guy? 6-8 290 LBs STRENGTHS Improved by leaps and bounds from 2013 to 2014. Elite size with ability to add more bulk to his frame. Quick-twitch athlete. Explodes up field into blockers with good pad level and hip snap, gaining instant leverage against the run and often jarring them into the backfield. Gets good arm extension to control offensive linemen and peppers them with powerful hands. Can unlock quickly from blocks. Has above-average tackle radius thanks to his length and quickness. WEAKNESSES Power-based pass rush with very little production to show for it over his time at Oregon. Plays tall as pass rusher and doesn't use his hands to gain consistent advantages. Has no reliable counter moves when rush stalls. Gets caught up in whipping man in front of him rather than making the ball carrier his focus. Will win against an offensive lineman, but doesn't put himself into position to finish. He played basketball and wasn't fully dedicated to football until 2014. I think he can be molded into a pro-bowler with the staff we currently have. Thoughts on this kid??

Peter King's final mock this morning has us trading with KC to 18 picking up a 4th & 7th, and still drafting Armstead. Says he's hearing how much JT likes this guy FWIW. Interesting idea for a trade anyway.

Why would KC move up 3 spots

and I'd want more than a 4th and a 7th (who cares about a 7th round pick) we'd need at the very least a 4th & 5th plus a pick next year.

That's because Willis at #11 was about as much of a no-brainer pick as you'll ever see. Paraphrasing the Steelers GM, he says NFL team FOs don't even pay attention to mock drafts and would basically scramble their brains even more if they did because there's so much disinformation flying around everywhere.

He has a freaky body... just not a body of work. I think there are better options and specific needs to be addressed rather than taking a guy with upside only. The 9ers have also built success making teams one dimensional (taking away the run). Armstead does not look good here. OS keeps running right at him.

That said... he could be great maybe one day.

If we're only going off of future potential and not actual film is rather have Carl Davis>A Armstead. At least he looked good at the Senior bowl.

and Baalke never gets guys without any production (in the first round at least). Even AJ Jenkins had decent production at UofI. You get my point.

I really don't think this guy ends up going in the 1st round. You'd be doing your organization a disservice by wasting your 1st round pick on him.

I'm sure he goes in 2 - 3 round.

Only reason he has 1st round hype is because he's 6'7 which in peoples mind means "high ceiling" no pun intended.

McShay and Polian on ESPN just Red Flagged AA due to poor Football Character - that is, concern about his commitment to the Game.
