I haven't seen a thread for this guy? 6-8 290 LBs STRENGTHS Improved by leaps and bounds from 2013 to 2014. Elite size with ability to add more bulk to his frame. Quick-twitch athlete. Explodes up field into blockers with good pad level and hip snap, gaining instant leverage against the run and often jarring them into the backfield. Gets good arm extension to control offensive linemen and peppers them with powerful hands. Can unlock quickly from blocks. Has above-average tackle radius thanks to his length and quickness. WEAKNESSES Power-based pass rush with very little production to show for it over his time at Oregon. Plays tall as pass rusher and doesn't use his hands to gain consistent advantages. Has no reliable counter moves when rush stalls. Gets caught up in whipping man in front of him rather than making the ball carrier his focus. Will win against an offensive lineman, but doesn't put himself into position to finish. SOURCES TELL US "I see the power in his hands and all of his tools, but I don't see the production or the consistent push that I feel like I should see from him. He played basketball and wasn't fully dedicated to football until 2014. I think he can be molded into a pro-bowler with the staff we currently have. Thoughts on this kid??

This reminds me of 07 when all the mocks said carriker,carriker,carriker, and they picked who we all wanted. Hopefully this is a repeat Thursday!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't upset with picking AL. I was mainly still pissed we didn't get pat pete and I wanted Quinn a little more than AL.

It's lying season though so grains of salt. He is a raw project but his size and strength combo coupled with his athleticism give him a very high upside. Would not love the pick but would not hate it, as he fills a need and if he reaches his anywhere near his potential he would easily supplant TJE or Dial and the longterm answer at one of the end spots.

IMHO given that there are few prospects who could or would actually start for us at 15, taking a guy who needs grooming is not as bad as some would like to believe. I also get that it is not a pick that will excite the fanbase but it does fit the mantra of building from the inside out. If TB feels good about the comp at OG and thinks we are good at corner and AA is his BPA, you won't see me with a pitchfork in hand.

I don't think he's super athletic, like everyone keeps stating. He didn't blow away the combine and Henry Anderson actually had better combine numbers than him....I think Dial can become a good DE for us as well.

I agree if he's BPA they fine, but it's funny seeing him in all our mocks based solely on need not that fact that he's a top 15 talent. Any mock I've seen where we don't select Armstead, he drops all the way to the end of the 1st. Why is he a top 15 pick for us but no other team? We could trade down an grab this kid or take Anderson in the 2nd.

what tape are you watching?

he's definitely shown flashes due to his length and strength, but he was constantly lost against the run, wasn't aware of where the ball carrier was, and only has one pass rush move.
