I know people think first rounders should be in canton at the point of retirement to be successful, but that's not reality. If you're a legitimate (don't have to be a pro-bowler) starter, you're not a bust, regardless of the round you're drafted.
I stand corrected my good man. I just had the hope of McQuarters being our shut down corner. I was stoked about the pick thought he would be a Deion sanders type.
McQuarters was a letdown for me too. Part of that letdown were the asinine comparisons to Charles Woodson that built up over the top expectations. McQuarters was an athlete that played corner. I've always wondered if he was utilized properly. I think he eventually moved to FS for the Giants and was very successful at that position for a period of time; eerily like the "plan" for Jimmy Ward.
In the end, McQuarters, IMO, was utilized poorly by the 49ers... but he did start and was "good" at his job, but not great. He was most definitely better than Rumph. Now he was a flat out BUST.
