They say he is very versatile who can play RE, LE, DT and OLB depending on the scheme and has a high motor and that 3-4 is best suited for him. If he is 277 it would seem he could play both DE in the 3-4 as well as rush from the OLB position. He seems like an intriguing, versatile talent

I'll go on a limb and say he comes to the combine at 265. He is a 43DE or 34OLB/ Most importantly, he is a football player. I'd be very surprised if he ends up a 34DE. just doesn't seem like the best fit for his game. I love the kid. He is my number one edge rusher/43DE/34OLB in this draft.
wow, I like Perryman but surprised to see him as a first round talent

I like Tomlinson, he looked great in the Duke-ASU bowl.

You have to be true to what you see. For me, Mack was a no brainer as the best player in the 2014 class, and Clowney was not in his league as a pro prospect. You have to ignore all the noise if you want to give an honest analysis.

A couple years ago, a board member stacked his draft with Christian Ponder as the best player and Ricky Stanzi as the second best. He argued his points well, and even though I thought him to be insane in his analysis, he stuck to his guns and gave reasons for the choices. Arguing on behalf of other sports writers or what your GM does or doesn't do is not good analysis. It is not genuine and usually ends up being flawed.

Tomlinson is not the best athlete, but is able to manipulate his body to win at different angles. Really good Senior Bowl week.Keep your eye on John Miller, who to me is a first year starter. Wowed me in watching games and Shrine practice/games.

Perryman is shorter than what you like from a LB, but he is really good. I grade him slightly below Paul Dawson right now.

MD, where's my favorite player, Marcus Peters? I know there's off the field stuff, but purely based on what he does on the field, is this kid not a top player?

Curveball the team could throw the fans this draft would be selecting Cameron Erving at 15, or maybe shocking the world with Maxx Williams. Both are going to be climbers in the pre-draft process. Erving is far and away the best center in this draft, and may be one of those guys you look back at someday and say, "What a great anchor for a dozen years". Very, very low bust potential. Think Miami and Pittsburgh are happy with the play of the Pouncey boys. He might be that good.

I like the Maxx Williams idea IF the Niners decide to move on from Vernon. He would be a great addition to the Niners offense.

Just like DGB, red flags push him down. Arguing with the coaching staff to the point they dismiss a top level talent. Pretty dumb stuff and it must be so bad they had no choice.

The question is whether Davis is worth the cap number. His numbers last year say No, but he still is a pretty good talent. Definitely on the back end of his career.

Two follow-ups. First is where you have him ONLY BASED ON FOOTBALL. Meaning all evaluation criteria except character (which I get is important). Second, how did you rank Winston if you're discounting so heavily on charecter issues?

Ponder is a clone of Alex Smith. If a good coach can convince him to play within his limits and not force plays then he'd be a decent QB.

So MadDog, in your opinion, what makes Melvin Gordon so much better than Tevin Coleman or Gurley? Coleman put up virtually identical stats with far less help and seems to be better at just about every RB skill.

I'd give a first round grade on both Winston and Peters if they didn't have this baggage they carry around. Winston would be my number one QB, and probably fit in the 6-10 slot of best overall. Peters would be right there with Waynes and Williams as mid-late first round value.

Gurley's injury has to play some consideration, but I think he will recover well. I like Coleman a LOT, and he will be an early second round pick, I believe. To me, all three are tight together. Not much separates. I would disagree with the idea of "not much help" for Gordon. The QB play this year was horrific for Wisconsin.
