We could get him, we won't. Because balked thinks he's great at drafting Wrs elsewhere..we don't draft #1 receivers because we are the 49ers. We are stubborn and we will die with our sinking ship.

Yes, let's be like Atlanta and blow a ton of picks on one WR, the key to success clearly.

Why draft a receiver when you can trade a 7th rounder for another slow possession receiver. Hakeem Nicks for a 7th rounder yo. In regards to Cooper I don't think he's good enough to trade up for. AJ Green, Calvin Johnson if you have the team maybe but Cooper is more of a Roddy White like prospect.

falcons would still be bad even if they hadn't given up what they did for jones---smith is a terrible coach, expeciallyon game day decisions and clock management and Nolan is terrible too
Julio is a monster! Sure they gave up a lot, but the reason the are so bad is because of injuries. I mean look at their Oline ugh

I don't think Cooper is as good as Julio, but I wouldn't mind drafting a WR in the 1st.....maybe DGB

This team needs something and I don't mean another 4th-6th rd WR.

Roman's first question: Can he block???
His talent would be wasted in our offense
Given that we are going to have a new coach next year, and we may very well finish the season at 7-9, it's not out of the realm of possibility to get this guy.

The reason they are so bad is that their team lacks depth and talent all over their defense.
So I've been insanely busy and have had very little time to watch college games this year. But I'm officially on vacation now, and I got a chance to watch some 'Bama.

Soooooo...

Amari Cooper: Michael Crabtree 2.0???

For the record, I was as mad as any Niner fan on earth when they drafted Crabby instead of Orakpo). It just hit me as I was driving through this horrendous storm out here in the west. Something about this guy screams "perfect for college football." These 2 guys just seem eerily similar IMO. Great college team; very good college QB. Tons of college production. Similar size, build & athletic ability (Crabtree has longer arms I think). Mr. Cooper is a bit faster than Crabtree though IMO. With the insane talent pool at WR this year, there's no way I'd touch any receiver in the top 10. That's just me. And there's a question mark by the comparison because it's early, and I wanna see how he does at the combine & so on. But right now it seems like those 2 guys are the same player.

Crabtree in a better system with a good QB would certainly be better. It's also worth noting Crabtree has been plagued by injuries his entire career. So comparing him to Crabtree isn't necessarily a bad thing. But, I don't think their quite the same. Cooper played in a much tougher conference for one. He's also faster as you pointed out. Think Sammy Watkins, just a little slower perhaps, with a little more toughness and you have Cooper. He's a very good prospect that will be a wonderful addition to the team that picks him.

Cooper is tougher than Watkins??? I don't see it. Watkins seems SIGNIFICANTLY faster and tougher than Cooper to me.

Well I admittedly haven't studied him too much yet, so you may very well be correct. Regardless, here's a scouting report of his skill set that you might find interesting:

"Skill-Set Summary: There is a lot to like about Cooper. He is a polished receiver who also contributes as a blocker. The junior is a fast wide out who can stretch a defense vertically and is a threat to score on any reception. He has the deep speed to challenge defenses and command extra attention over the top.

When Cooper is healthy, he has a real burst. His first-step quickness helps him to generate separation from defensive backs and run away from defenders. Cooper showed that in the most recent Sugar Bowl, when on the second play of the game he took a short quick screen pass for a gain of about 60 yards.

On top of his speed, Cooper has underrated size and strength. Like Watkins, Cooper doesn't have overwhelming size but plays bigger than his listed numbers. Cooper outfights defensive backs for contested balls and is physical. He shouldn't get pushed around in the NFL.

Cooper is a natural pass-catcher who runs good routes. He is polished for a player only entering his junior year. After the catch, Cooper is excellent. He is fast in the open field and has wiggle to dodge tacklers. Cooper also is strong to finish with the ability to carry defensive backs for extra yardage.

For the NFL, Cooper looks like a potential No. 1 receiver for his offense. He has the ability to play in any NFL scheme as he could excel in a West Coast offense or pro digit system. Cooper may lack the top gear that Watkins has, but Cooper is a fine player and enters the season as the best draft-eligible receiving prospect. " - WalterFootball.com

Cooper is by no means a Randy Moss type of player, but he seems to have all the skills you look for in a #1 WR in the NFL.
