Pregame question: Is Gordon tough enough to run between the tackles as a pro ?
Looking at the numbers, evaluators would come away disappointed that Gordon failed to surpass the 100-yard mark for only the second time this season. But his effort and toughness running against an impenetrable wall at the point of attack spoke volumes about his overall grit and toughness as a runner.
Gordon relentlessly hit the hole with urgency. He didnt back down when the Buckeyes overwhelmed the Badgers' offensive line at the point of attack.
From a scouting perspective Gordons resiliency and tenacity are ideal traits in a franchise runner which is why he is different than his predecessors at Wisconsin.
In addition Gordon flashed impressive vision and creativity in the hole as he repeatedly made the initial defender miss before being engulfed by a wave of tacklers in the hole.
Although his longest run against Ohio State netted only 13 yards Gordon displayed the kind of short-area explosiveness, elusiveness and physicality to produce the pro runs expected of a franchise back.
It would be amazing to see this kids lightning to hydes thunder. Its not out of the realm that the niners would go after him either.
What started as a position of strength this season will be one of need next year. Gore may not be back. No lattimore. Hunter is coming off another season ending injury so who knows how he will look.

Yessir! Give me him or Coleman and I will jizz myself
I'm not sold on Gordon at all.
In fact, I think he is going to be a bust.
Plays in a conference with average defenses, and also benefits behind one of the best run blocking schemes/offensive lines I've ever seen.
His highlight tape mostly shows him running around guys untouched and some of its by his doing, but most of the time its his blocking.
I think he is the solution for us. We have no speed or explosive runs. He gives us lightning. Hyde is thunder. This team was always built to run. The more we get back to it the better. The more we get away from it the more we lose.
Lol at Gordon not being good. How come other Wisconsin backs don't get over 2000 yards if it is so easy?
We pick about mid first round. That is about where he will be. Keep Iupati and draft him. We should value RB's more even if other teams value them less. Especially the way we are built.
No the guy with the torn up knee and who is slower is not better than the healthy guy who is faster and puts up more production.
We need more explosive players on offense as per Bobby Wagner and I say get this guy to be our Jamaal Charles and add him with Hunter and Hyde. A trifecta of RBs to run run run with Kap on defenses all day. We can get a speedster WR in the second round. Maybe DGB. We gotta beat SEA and we need explosive players other than Kap and VD to do it. Let's do it!
When you run for over 2000 yards in the FBS in at a major school, the majority of the time that will indicate you're the real deal. There have been some 2000+ yard runners that were busts though. Here's the overall list:
Went on to be stars:
Barry Sanders
LaDanian Tomlinson
Marcus Allen
Matt Forte
Ricky Williams
Larry Johnson
Ray Rice
Mike Rozier (didn't have amazing numbers, but made back to back Pro Bowls in 1987 and 1988)
Busts:
Rashaan Salaam (Had a 1000 yd, 10 TD rookie season, but injuries and off-field issues plagued him. He never repeated those numbers)
Troy Davis (although he did go on to be a multi-year All-Star and Grey Cup champ in the CFL)
Byron Hanspard
J.J. Arrington
Kevin Smith
TBD:
Andre Williams
Melvin Gordon
---------------------------------------------
So, you could say that based on this list, he has roughly a 65% chsnce of being a star.
SEA offense is pounding teams into the ground simply because they got two explosive threats in the backfield between Russ and Lynch. It is time we match that by drafting this guy if the WR we want doesn't fall to us
