Fun factoid from Pac-12 title game, the Ducks have scored more points in Levi Stadium in 2 games than the 49ers have in their entire season thus far.

I see a lot of similiarities between Mariota and Kaepernick, in terms of build, speed, how great they are at throwing on the run. But Mariota certainly has a more charming personality that Colin "Yep" Kaepernick. He comes across as a very intelligent and humble guy while Colin....not sure he has it upstairs.

But will he be a sucessfull pocket passer in the NFL? Hard to say. Kaep would look like an awesome #1 can't miss pick in Oregon's offense as well.

If you watched Mariota through all his years, he throws from the pocket all the time and goes through progressions. He's nothing like Kap in terms of pass game and I've watched him since he was in high school. Athleticism would be the only comparison

It's interesting watching him in the pocket.

Reminds me a bit of another QB in the NFC West. Knows how to move around, buying time while keeping his head up and looking downfield.

U guys think York/Baalke is having thoughts about drafting Mariota if a trade happens with Harbaugh? He's seen the kid shine twice now in his golden stadium..plus If they are getting tired of Harbs attitude how long will they go with Kap?

And Kaps big contract really isn't that big..York has forsure had thoughts about it IMO

You would have to draft up to the top three to have a shot. If you put Kap into the mix with draft picks it could work. He will be elite in a short time. It's a move that could make or break a franchise for the next 5 or 6 years.

Like his attitude. Very humbled kid.

Not crazy about this dude. He don't suck but he's tooo systemie for my liking. he's like Kap 2.0 with a weaker arm.

LOL. Based on college success in a gimmick offense in a conference that plays zero defense.

If you want a QB that can throw into tight windows, play in a pro-style offense, and beat a defense from the pocket, Mariota is not the guy.

A gimmick offense that is currently ranked 1st in the NFL from some team in the NFC East?

Gimmick was a poor choice of words, as I am ultimately a believer in that style of offense. I'm still a little skeptical of how successful that offense is going to be in January, but definitely still a believer.

What I meant was, that offense makes every QB you stick in it look incredible (see Mark Sanchez and Nick Foles). Tim Tebow threw 32 TDs and 4 INTs in a very similar no-huddle spread attack under Urban Meyer, and then could barely complete 50% of his passes in the NFL.

That offense does an awesome job of creating huge windows to throw into. Every time I see Mariota, he's completing passes to wide open receivers. Very rarely does he have to stick one into a tight spot--something you have to do quite frequently in the NFL.
