2015 49ers Draft Needs

1. Offensive line (Boone and Iupati )
2. Defensive line now that Cowboy is 45 and McDonald's average performance
3. Tight End
4. Corner
5. WR

I'm betting we trade back.

Depends on who is available. If they have a shot at guy like Kevin White, I hope they take the shot and get him, but otherwise, seeing as how they have several needs, I don't see the problem with trading back a bit in the 1st as long as they end up with one impact DL, OL or WR.

I see TE as pretty much a non-starter, so much mediocrity this year. I also don't look at Funchess as a TE at the next level so that makes the position class look even worse. Nick O'Leary is one of my favorites but I still feel pretty blah about him. I'm more than happy to skip the TE position, hope they can develop Carrier and McDonald and get them ready to play a bigger role in the passing game next season.

Is your preference for White based on expectation that he'll be near the niners draft spot, or do you prefer him to Cooper, Parker and Strong?

I prefer him over all the above. Cooper is easily the best prospect at WR this year but I actually think White has a higher ceiling than he does. I like Strong a lot but the main question about him is whether or not he'll be able to consistently create separation at the next level.

Parker is another nice prospect, but he needs to improve his catching, he'll make some jaw dropping catches but then drop a gimme pass when he's completely wide open. I have White in front of him. I love White's aggressive nature, very physical, has that Boldin sort of fight in him. If the 49ers got any of those four, I would not be upset but White and Parker would be my preferences.

A QB within the 1st three rounds. Hopefully, he'll push Kap to be better or take his job because he's better.

Just like with TE's, you have a weak QB class, reminds me of the 2002 QB class.

What I liked about Landry last year!

where would you rank dorial green-beckham? I would love to have him if he declares.
1) If we can get an O.C. who takes us back to our playoff scheming of the past few years, then I am more than happy going into next year with Boldin, Stevie J., Ellington, and Patton as our wideouts.

2) O-Line...yes, please! Apparently, the top-graded center (?) in last year's draft hasn't (yet) earned those praises, constantly being blown off the ball. Guard is a must. And, anyone but everyone's favorite whipping boy, J. Martin, at R.T., please. In my opinion, the offensive line has been one of the main culprits of this year's stenchitude.

3) Corner. Who knows if Brock's toe-thing is gonna be a lingering thing? Cully has been hurt on-and-off and Jimmy Ward disappointed as a 1st-round pick.

4) Carradine / Dial / Ian / Dorsey / Ray-Mac should be fine, even IF Cowboy reties, but some depth with potential would be nice.

3 linemen, 2 corners, 1 QB, 1 TE in any value-effective order, please. Of course, having Crabs, Iupati, and possibly Gore and Cowboy off the books could allow us to fill in some of those gaps via free agency.
WR - I think Crabtree is gone and there could be some real talents available in the first if we miss the playoffs (seems all but guaranteed).

OL - Not giving up on Martin just yet, but it's been a rough ride. I'm not comfortable betting on him & Thomas if Iupati leaves.

TE - only if Vernon leaves, but the talent seems thin this year

RB - only if Gore leaves and RB's have been sliding later into the draft

DE - This might be the only position where my thoughts haven't changed this season. Grab one early if someone falls.

Backup QB - either bring in a vet to help mentor Kap, draft a talented guy to sit behind him, or do both. I'm tired of the Gabbert type solutions.

CB - I can see Cox getting more money elsewhere. A healthy Cully & Brock would be great, but this season should show us you can never have too much depth there.

"weak" is a very friendly quality description of the upcoming TE-class, given the research I've made over some draft guru sites.

first-round, even for us: need-based BPA, thus WR, DE, OG

o-line is always a need and I also think that we need a quality-backup for the OT badly, perhaps even a long-term replacement for Davis, if he continues to struggle at times.
OG is a very big need, imho. We need a starter.

even if he stays, we are in need here. I do trust Vance, Carrier and Celek to be servicable #2-#3 TE but none of them showed any sign of being a real #1-TE so far. BTW, Vernon's contract is finished in 2016, iirc.
RB - only if Gore leaves and RB's have been sliding later into the draft
Gore is 31. You know exactly that RBs start to decline very fast at this age. Thus, we need a backup (Hunter? I don't know) and a change-of-pace back.
DE - This might be the only position where my thoughts haven't changed this season. Grab one early if someone falls.
Yep.
Backup QB - either bring in a vet to help mentor Kap, draft a talented guy to sit behind him, or do both. I'm tired of the Gabbert type solutions.
Do both. Though, let's wait and see whether Gabbert can be at least a good backup.
CB - I can see Cox getting more money elsewhere. A healthy Cully & Brock would be great, but this season should show us you can never have too much depth there.
Though, we had a lot of bad luck at this position. You cannot backup this kind of un-luck by any means. On average two of the following were missing this season (not exactly): Brock, Cully, Ward, Cook; three of them are starters.
Still, 1-2 additional guys (Reaser and Acker are on IR!!!) on day 3, perhaps in round 3, should do it.
Expecting that Brock and Cox or Cully are the starting CBs whereas Ward is the primary nickel CB with Dontae Johnson and Cook backing up, the next season would be started with 5 active CBs on the roster and like I've said, Acker and Reaser will be activated by then as well. Imho, the need for a CB is not this huge.
Updated my original post. I have no idea guys could be a WR, DL, OL, RB (Gordon trade down? 20's?), CB, etc. I don't know if we can even rule out QB if Kap would get traded with Harbaugh although I think that's unlikely. Could be cut but I highly doubt that as well. I have to wait to see if: Gore is back, Culliver/Cox/Cook is back, if brooks or davis is traded, etc. Should be an interesting offseason. My pipe dream (aka not going to happen) would be to pick up a 1st for Harbaugh or even a swap of firsts, trade Vernon for a 2nd or 3rd, trade Brooks for a 3rd or 4th... use that to reload and continue the youth movement. That all being said more likely we keep vernon, get a mid round pick for harbaugh and a late pick for brooks.

My list is as follows :

1) QB

2) WR

3) RB

4) TE

5) OL
I think getting a WR is priority #1. Rashad Greene and Kevin White in the first, and a guy like Lockett or Dorsett later would be amazing. The only TE I want is Maxx Williams(if he comes out). Had a bad year statistically due to horrible QB play, but he has it all. He's in the Gronk/Kelce mold. Huge athletic guy who makes tough catches.

Agreed. I don't know enough about the draft this year, but it sounds like we might be in a good spot to get a top WR.

Regarding CB, I think it depends on either Cox or Cully getting resigned. If we lose both, than CB certainly climbs the chart. Cook is a FA as well, but he's more of a depth guy imo.
