We have three xtreme needs.

OL is must. My #1 need! New guards that can be starters right away and depth at LT and RT. Probably a new center as well.

Then we need a QB. Top rounds for sure.

We also need couple of WR and a TE. In the 3rd and 4th rounds.

DT and DE for sure.

CB is also a big need.

Other than LB and Safeties. We need to plug a lot of holes next year. We need a new QB to compete with Keap. A CB that has potential to start right away and become a #1 CB in the future. OL in every spot, specially the guards to replace Bone and Iupati. WR and TE is going to be a big need. We will need TE and WR that can start right away and provide speed and that have top catching abilities. A true DT and DE to replace the Cowboy... In all we have too many holes to plug everywhere, from depth to starters. NO MORE INJURED PLAYERS!

I agree we need these things, but looking at this draft there is not many players that match these needs outside of the 3rd round. A new QB? This QB class is shaping up to be very weak outside the 2nd round. Then we have to ask ourselves will Baalke really draft a QB in the first two rounds? OL theres some quality players up to the 4th round, but will they be any better than Looney or Thomas if we draft that late trying to fill other needs earlier on? TE, I haven't seen a single one that really sticks out of a lackluster crowd. A WR with speed and top catching abilities together will come at the cost of a very early draft pick, and even then will we have the ability to develop that talent? A true DT and DE would also come at a steep cost of a draft pick. In the end I agree with you,we have too many holes to plug with the draft picks we currently have, I'm just adding in that the draft prospects do not do us any favors helping fill those holes.

Daniel Kilgore says hello. Why do you consider CB a need? I think we need more depth considering we will lose Cox or Culliver. But if we are able to at least retain Cox, I'm comfortable with him, Dontae Johnson, and Tramaine Brock competing for starting jobs. I do believe TE will be a big need (either or number one or two), but there really is no one available. It's a very poor class and we could likely wait until the 4th or even 5th round to get one of the better TEs available. As for a QB, I'd be open to drafting one late and/or signing a free agent to compete. All in all, I think a DE, WR, RB, and safety (someone has to replace Craig Dahl), and TE are the top needs. Kap will likely get another year to prove he can be the guy. I do think we may have to do some draft maneuvering because I'd really like to get a day one starter at WR, RB, and DE. Running back will be the easiest of all since that position doesn't hold great value anymore in terms of the draft. WR is also possible if DGB slides into the second. With the way our season is going, if DGB does slide, we can trade back in the first, still pick up a decent DE, and get DGB in the second, along with one of the top 5 running backs in the late second.

I forgot about O-line. I really think this is a product of coaching. For every single one of them to regress this bad in one year? Definitely coaching. Hopefully Anthony Davis will be healthy next year, but tackle is the only position that concerns me. If Davis gets rocked like that again, I really believe he should retire. We have plenty of guys to compete for the interior O-line positions (Joe Looney, Daniel Kilgore, Marcus Martin, and Brandon Thomas), but will likely add a guy late in the draft to get in the mix. Better offense, better playcalling, and better play calls and this O-line will look a lot better. Too much talent has been invested into it. We also still have Alex Boone who could net a decent draft pick considering his flexibility.

The offense could be greatly changed next year. This is my guess as to who will definitely be here and not. My list has too many rookies on it but I see a major shift if a new coach comes in with a new scheme.

QB: Kaepernick, FA vet back up, rookie
RB: Gore, Hyde, Miller, Millard, rookie
WR: Boldin, Johnson, Patton, Ellington, Rookie
C: Kilgore, M Martin
G: Thomas, Looney, FA vet, Rookie
T: Staley, A Davis, J Martin, Rookie
I don't get any need for CB. Lots of guys there. They all did well. Only an exception number of injuries hurt them.
If you watched this season, then you'll agree that fixing the offense is all the truth and nothing but the truth.
Trade Anthony Davis, move Boone to RT, let the competition begin for center and RG. More athletic OL.
Get a #1 WR. Fast, tall, short, small, slow I don't care. A legit, productive, consistent WR.
Another RB. Will Kendall Hunter regain his form?
The DL gets back Dorsey and I. WIlliams. Dial, Ramsey and Carradine improve. Draft a midround backup only even if J. Smith retire.
Did I say get a #1 WR?

My thoughts on what the 49ers needs are.

DL-Whether sooner or later, Justin Smith is out the door. Ray McDonald may not be that far behind either. Carradine remains an unknown quantity in the NFL, Dial looks decent but far from spectacular, Dorsey is on a short term deal and Ian Williams is starting to become the glass man. DL depth is a must, this defense needs a dominant group up-front, whether a DE or an NT, they need an impact player here, it would be great to add a wrecking ball of a player. There were some guys I liked last season like Hageman but this draft I think its imperative to a talented DL prospect to the unit.

WR-I don't see WR necessarily as a HUGE need if Boldin comes back, Johnson stays and Patton and Ellington actually get a chance to play but if they snag a true playmaking WR, a guy like Kevin White or a deep threat like Sammie Coates, that would be tremendous. This teams lacks major playmakers on offense and either one of those guys fits the bill.

RB- With no guarantee on Gore, Hyde and a returning-from-injury Kendall Hunter, another RB is needed, hopefully someone with speed, not necessarily a scatback, another freight train like Hyde would work quite well. While this draft is weak in quite a few area's, RB is one of the stronger positions and the 49ers should be able to select a quality RB somewhere. Lots of high quality prospects, a guy like Tevin Coleman would be perfect for this team, I'm also a HUGE fan of Duke Johnson out of Miami, Mike Davis, Kenny Hilliard out of LSU and more.

OL-More depth will be needed if Iupati walks and if there are any other changes on the OL. A more balanced approach, run blocking and pass blocking is essential. I see Staley as a keeper at LT and that's pretty much it. Davis should be starting at RT next season but I could also see him being moved to guard depending on who the new coach is. Iupati seems like he'll walk, Boone may very well get traded, his goofy holdout really screwed him and the team over. I think at least one more guard and maybe a swing tackle could be needed from this draft.

QB-Depth at quarterback is needed, a young passer to develop over time in case Kaepernick falters. I like Garrett Grayson out of Colorado State a lot, other guys include Sean Mannion and Shane Carden.

CB-This team has some relatively young depth so I didn't see this as an early "must get" but maybe one more guy to compete along with Johnson, Acker, Reaser and Ward. If Cox or Culliver don't come back then this becomes a bit more urgent of a priority. One guy I like is Byron Jones out of UConn, some injury issues but a nice big, talented CB with a lot of upside.

OLB-If Brooks is gone and Skuta is a free agent, with Lemonier having not had very much success, depth here behind Aldon and Lynch becomes crucial. Guys I'd be interested in include Hau Oli Kikaha, Alvin Dupree and others. Marcus Rush is a sleeper prospect that I'm quite fond of.

TE-I don't think TE is as big of an issue as some do. I also think this TE class happens to be absolutely AWFUL so I don't see much hope for improvement there. I think VD just needs to get healthy, needs to get his mind right, and playing in a more wide offense will only help him. I do think that McDonald needs more opportunities in the passing game and that Carrier should pretty much be a keeper, he's looked very good in limited playing time. Millard could also figure in here as kind of an H-back type.

CB: don't forget Brock. Dude is nails when healthy. I'd be comfortable starting Johnson and Brock with Ward, Acker or Reaser in the slot. I wouldn't expect to keep both Cox and Cully. Basically, whoever signs first stays, IMO.

TE: great point on Millard. I forgot how multiple he is. He and Carrier could totally hold down the HB role. Not sure I want Vernon back at all. Dude currently has the intensity of a baked kitten.
WR is not a huge need? Wow!

Still disagree and think you have to go after quality for the WR position...not another 4th rounder! If they have a chance at a top guy they just have to make a move! This is a pretty good year for WRs again, so it may be possible to get a good WR in either the first or the second round...if Coates, Green-Beckham or Funchess drops to the 9ers pick in the 2nd I'd be happy with those guys. I would prefer a speed receiver but a big strong guy like Benjamin would help as well.

Green-Beckham may drop as Benjamin did last year with a very similar write up by scouts--tremendous talent but questionable work ethic (CBS). My problem with these second tier guys is that we don't develop WRs and these guys need polishing.

I think with Boldin, Johnson, Ellington and Patton you have a decent group for a coach who knows how to actually use them, still a better group than they had in 2011. Not saying that a playmaking WR wouldnt be good or that upgrades aret needed, I just see DL potentially being a bigger need.

If Justin Smith retires or just regresses, that would create a far bigger weakness IMO. This team will still be led by their defense and it all starts with the front seven.

If you look back at recent Superbowl winners, a dominate DL is a lot more important than dominant receivers.

With as much time Carr had to throw on Sunday, with such a clean pocket to throw from, I do feel strongly that DL should be a major focus, either DE or NT.

Someone like Danny Shelton or Eddie Goldman would be a welcome addition to this DL.

Here's a VERY good analysis of the games breakdown [heavy on the break] that IMO will in part guide the draft

Pretty sure we'll have a new WR coach...
