Love this time of year! Looked up Smelter to see where he was projected...he's not! LOL...better stats than his team mate Waller (?)...but is listed way down the prospect lists if at all.

Also looked up Danny Shelton because New NFL Draft has him going to SF in the first...good prospect but I looked at three sites and they listed him at 6'1", 6'2 and 6'3" respectively! Guess he's still growing!

high ceiling, lol
Updated my needs... TE could very well be a #1 or 2 pick need if Vernon is traded. It's not all that out of the realm of possibility with him being 31 and only having 1 year left and wanting big money. Who knows if it's injury or if he just wants to get paid and isn't giving his all or if he has lost it?

I couldn't tell you right now if we go DL, WR, CB or TE in the 1st. I expect Gore back 2 years, maybe 1 but even with him back could we pass up Gordon if he is there in the late 1st? If Gore isn't back then we really would have to think hard about it. Could even take a chance on Gurley if he fell to the late 2nd or 3rd.

WR in the first is making more sense given the talent in the draft and depending on what you think happens with Crab.

I still think DL is possible in the back half of the first. There could be some good NT/DE prospects still on the board.
another DT/NT is needed given Ian Williams' injure proneness.

No, it's always made sense! Going back to...2008 when I started posting! Even after taking Crabtree they still needed a bookend!

Dial looked good at NT...

...... starting to look good. Fingers crossed.
The offensive side of the ball deserves allot of attention starting w/Roman and WR, TE
Updated primary needs list as of week 12

1. WR - Crabtree is gone and likely so will Lloyd
2. DE - Smith and McDonald will be a year older plus Tank will need some help
3. QB - Cannot go another season without a qualified backup
4. RB - they always take one

Secondary needs

1. CB - depending on whether Culliver re-signs
2. OLB - Brooks is a head case and Lemonier was not as effective this year. Skuta probably stays.
3. OG - Thomas could step in for Iupati if he walks but may want more insurance for Boone as well.
4. TE - depending on what happens with Vernon for the rest of the season.

I like this but I would move the Guard from secondary to primary. I think the O line has been the seat of our problems this year and I don't like moving players from one position to another to cover injuries.

What I'd like to see

1st - Danny Shelton

2nd - Ty Montgomery

3rd - Michael Dyer

4th (own pick) - To Buffalo for Stevie Johnson trade

4th (From Denver) - Henry Anderson

5th - Preston Smith - 6'6" 270 pounds Mississippi St.

6th - Garrett Grayson

7th - Bill VaVau <--------- One player I hope the 9ers draft, excellent run blocker from what I've seen.

7th (From Colts/Cam Johnson Trade) - Tevin Mitchel

Sorry I didn't mean to really Mock it, it's just those are the players teams I've been putting money on (and winning) and would like to see as 49ers!!!

Those are also the needs I think for the 49ers going into next years draft. I'm pretty sure my projections are waaaaay off, some players may go sooner or later.
If either Gurley or Gordon is still there late in the 1st round, we should use our 1st pick on them.

All world talents added to a running based team with Gore getting older just seems to make sense.
Was really hoping the Lattimore experiment would work out. He was a man among boys at USC, but that injury was much worse than anyone thought.

I love Frank, but Hyde needs a younger, faster partner in crime in the backfield.

Or is it shrinking? Hmm...

If I had to list them by priority->

DE-Yes the 49ers have depth with Carradine and Dial but Justin Smith is on the way out here soon and McDonald has had injury issues over the past few years. TJE is a free agent at the end of the season and another quality DL prospect to keep a fresh rotation, as well as potentially a late round/undrafted guy for Tomsula to work with is just what the doctor ordered. Need to keep building depth in that area and keep the DL as a strength.

CB-Need to continue building the secondary, no idea if Culliver is coming back or not so more depth here, even potentially a starter, will be key.

OG-49ers have depth now but if both Iupati and Boone are gone, then depth would necessarily and a potential starter added.

FS-Need a true backup safety, one that can be dependable in coverage.

WR-Boldin's aging, Lloyd might be a one year rental, I hope the 49ers keep doing what they've been doing the past few years and keep adding receivers.

QB-Definitely need a backup QB, I was hoping that they'd draft a guy like Aaron Murray in the previous draft but it was not meant to be.

Sounds bout right. Keeping loading the team up with o and d-line, corners, and let's replace Lattimore while we are at it. Give me a veteran back up QB and a receiver off free agency. Don't want a rookieQB as our #2, no thx.
