2015 49ers Draft Needs

I like this as a principle, but I think we're looking pretty good on both lines for the future. A #1 WR (Every down, size, speed, hands, competitive drive, blocking, instincts) guy would change this offense more than another lineman, IMO. Next year's starters appear to be on the roster already, and that group already looks better than this group (Staley, Looney/Martin/Thomas, Kilgore/Martin, Boone/Looney/Thomas/Martin, Davis) That's a talented, deep, and potentially devastating line.

I think both of you are right. I think our receiving core for the first time since the 90s is fine. Even if Michael Crabtree walks, I'm not worried about 2015. Imagine how good we'd look if Kap had 3 to 5 seconds of solid protection on a regular basis? I think that alone would make us a top 5 offense, even without adding another receiver to the mix.

As for the receiver you described, the one with all those traits will not be available late in the draft unless you want the 49ers to spend some serious draft capital to move up. I don't agree with this at all. We could trade major picks to get a Julio Jones type of player, or we can stay put and draft a receiver with some deep speed that can be at worst our third receiver without having to give up so many picks. I've also stated before that this elusive number 1 is not a necessary component to winning it all. If we can get one, great, but we have to be realistic about our chances of doing so without trading away the future. As for the line, it is a potentially devastating line, but we haven't seen them play yet. We thought Tank would come in a wreck shop from day one and he hasn't even played yet. I like the idea of Looney, Martin, and Thomas in the line up, but we don't know for certain if they will pan out.

I can see Baalke taking more lineman next season and letting the best 5 start.

Areas of strengths and weaknesses--generally:

Strengths:
Depth at OL, DL, RB, WR, CB, S, LB, OLB
Top tier talent at LB, RB, WR, and Justin Smith
Explosive at QB, TE (VD), and OLB (Aldon)

Weaknesses:
Depth at QB
Lack of top tier talent at CB, DL (other than Justin)
Lacks explosiveness at WR, RB, S, CB, DL and C (maybe M Martin?)

So overall I would say the greatest deficit is with explosive skill position players. No homerun threats at WR (Lloyd is it) or RB. No shut down DBs and limited pass rushing past Aldon and perhaps Lynch. On the good side of the ledger...depth is phenominal except for QB!
DE, CB, WR, TE, OG, maybe RB
Team needs five things:

1. Pass rush
2. Another CB
3. More pass rush
4. WR deep threat
5. More pass rush!

I don't think that's true this year. There are up to 7 WRs I hear listed as round 1 talent, and all we need is for Coates, DGB (if not crazy), White, or maybe Parker (might be more of a 2nd rd guy) to be one of the guys who falls a bit.
DL and the mythical #1 WR
DL - Starting caliber monster
WR - Burner that would demand double coverage
OL - We'll need 2 guys who can run & pass block.

Iupati will probably be gone
Boone - frankly I'm not sure about
Staly - is still very god BUT getting on in years and getting nicked up
Martin looks like the C for the future
Looney - solid - not sure if he's peaked
Thomas - IR, projected G, not proven

Everett Golson is someone we should consider in the 3rd round, and be Kaep's back up...

if not now, at the end of the season..

Trade Boone
Iaupati will walk via FA (trade him too)

RT - J. Martin
RG - Looney
C - M. Martin
LG - B. Thomas
LT - A. Davislet

Staley be the Swing Tackle..

Bring in a new OL coach that would and could teach us the Dallas OL technique!!

Fool? Name calling? Really?

Find a quote where I said that. I have repeatedly maintained that Davis doesn't block as hard as he used to, and that he has limited his own development. I don't think Carrier is there yet, but I like the potential. I think there are so many people on this site who disagree with you that you are starting to get them confused.

we are not getting production
out of the Tight End Spot this year
that we have enjoyed in years passed.

and what to this date has happened to validate that statement?
1-OG
2-OG
3-34 DE
4-34 DE
5- WR

Our problems are greatly compounded by Baalke's horrible draft classes the past three years.
