Absolutely hate the Dennard pick. Would rather take Beckham.

Why CB is a bigger need N Dennard could turn into a starter frm day 1 like Reid did .... IMO

Honestly, I wouldn't mind either. I just have a man crush on Beckham. Dennard would be a nice consulation prize.

Choices, choices, choices.............................WR or CB...............................Beckham Jr. or Dennard...............................

With the 15th pick in the NFL draft, the San Francisco 49ers select:

Darqueze Dennard CB Michigan St.

The WR class is deeper and Dennard is the better value at this point.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

History has shown that second round receivers generally blow. That is all.

N 49er history has shown 1st round WRs blow !!!!

I'll take overall NFL draft trends over the 49ers making a few bad picks over the years.

Nick is entitled to an opinion. With the trade up, the Niners won't be picking till the end of the 2nd. The difference between a late 2nd round WR and Beckham is not as huge as the difference between Dennard and either Desir, Breeland, Jean-Baptiste, etc. That's my opinion. We'll see how the real thing works out in about a week.

With the 24th pick, the Cincinnati Bengals select CB Bradley Roby from THE Ohio State University. We considered his teammate Carlos Hyde, but CB was a much bigger need.

I apologize for the delay.
I don't dislike the Dennard pick in terms of what player we got. But I'd be pretty disappointed with that trade in real life because of what we gave up.

I'd much rather have kept both 2nds and only give up a 3rd if we move up. Even if it means moving up slightly less and getting one of the other CB/WR prospects.

There are too many good players available to us in the first two rounds to give up one of those picks.
Chargers select Kyle Fuller.

The Browns select Teddy Bridgewater
Saints are on the clock always listening to offers....
With the 27th pick in the 2014 NFL draft, WHO DAT NATION is happy to select Ryan Shazier, OLB Ohio St...

I agree with this. With Dennard, Fuller, and Verrett still on the board, you could of waited.
Lol Brock sorry bro. Picking for the niners is a tough gig around here. You made a solid pick tho.

Yeah I mean later-round WR's rarely turn into bonafide franchise players... sure-fire #1 WR's. I want the Niners to take a stud they LOVE in the first round at the position, not someone that's "pretty good" in the second and beyond.

Nick, in total agreement with you. The Niners need a true #1 WR. Another "pretty good," "okay," "decent" WR would be only depth on this stacked roster with Patton and Lloyd. To that end, I'd propose adding a starter such as Ray McDonald to a trade-up package. If Beckham or Watkins or Evans is the guy, the Niners must trade up for him. If he is not in the draft, then I would fault them for not finding him in free agency.

The Niners did not lose Carlos Rogers, they discarded him. They replaced Whitner with Bethea. Brock had already won the starting spot even after Brown returned from injury. Questions about Culliver's health are the same as questions about Crabtree's health (and Patton's--twice hurt last year).

Who knows what Baalke is thinking? I, for one, believe the team's offense will not catch up to its defense until a real #1 receiver is on the team.

Yeah, just too many options in this draft. We should end up with at least 2-3 of the following players from our first 3-4 picks and I'd be pretty happy with almost any combination.

Cooks
Dennard
Pryor
Benjamin
Gilbert
Bucahanon
Beckham
Verrett
Seferian-Jenkins
Fuller
Skov
Adams
Roby
Jeffcoat
Landry
SJB
Tuitt
Moncrief
Roberson
Dix
Matthews
Desir
Ealy
Lee
Martin
Swanson

Plus others not mentioned. Just way too many option to give up early picks.
