Bashaud Breeland is just like the Jeffersons, moving on up.

Looked a little like a smaller, not quite good (yet) Culliver. All I can say is we picked a great year to need a CB and WR. Rounds 1-3 are loaded for both positions. Very likely we go WR or CB in rounds 2 and/or 3.

He checked in at 5'11" and 197, so good height/build heading into the NFL.
Arm length?

I believe it was 31 3/4 inches

It's hard to analyze these CB on a level playing field. I'm hoping our secondary retool is predicating around press/bump and run skills. Give Fangio the tools and let him groom. Arm length and strength in our new corners and keep Bethea and Reid over the top.

I know it's out of TB character to overlook speed but he is a smart man. He knows our secondary cost us ring(s). This could be a back to the drawing board approach in guys like Breeland.
Baalke seems to be in love with the player. I am indifferent. Not a huge fan because I think he gives up too many big play opportunities. Not a strong history of successful 4.6 corners in the NFL either. Good college player with solid coverage skills, but I would personally pass.

I would disagree with the part about the big play opportunities. As someone who has watched all of his games, I would say he has greatly improved in pass coverage and has always been very physical in run support/tackling. He has very good instincts and uses his size well. I certainly think he could have pushed himself into borderline first round territory with a strong senior season. Clemson's secondary has had big struggles the last couples of years, but Breeland was a definite bright spot during that time. The corners as a whole actually played much better last season, but the safeties were responsible for giving up some big plays on what nonetheless proved to be a much improved defense as a whole.

I love him as a prospect in our system. He is much more instinctive than Culliver. Culliver has ridiculous athletic skill but has never been totally comfortable as an actual player (though he clearly has a huge ceiling apart from his off field issues).

You could be right, maybe errors by the safeties caused Breeland to look worse than he is. I'll have to go back and review again. Although, that doesn't change my concerns over his recovery speed. Reid and Bethea are good, but we don't have an Earl Thomas back there. Even so, in Seattle, their current corners all have at least low 4.5 speed.
Scouts Inc.'s Kevin Weidl does not believe Clemson CB Bashaud Breeland will make it far past the second-round.
"Breeland has a lot of appeal as a prospect," Weidl tweeted. "Extremely long arms, easy mover (with plus) range." Teams will put a premium on bigger corners that can slow down their opposition with length and contend at the catch point. Our own Josh Norris prefers Breeland over Stanley Jean-Baptiste, a prospect who is more frequently discussed

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah debuted Clemson CB Bashaud Breeland at No. 42 on his Top-50 rankings.
"Breeland is a tall, fluid cornerback with good recovery speed," Jeremiah wrote. "He lines up as the boundary corner in Clemson's defense. In press coverage, he uses a one-hand jam and has the quickness and agility to mirror underneath routes and the speed to carry vertical routes. In off coverage, he has plenty of burst out of his plant/drive to make plays on the ball." The scribe notes Breeland's propensity to gamble and think his way out of position, but believes Breeland's closing speed generally erases his errors. Breeland is a willing run defender, but he must improve his tackling technique

to me, this draft just has much better prospects in the 2nd round. At positions of need too, like WR, C, S

I think if we go WR in the 1st, Breeland is a guy could take at 56 or 61.
Has been solid for a rookie all season. Great game versus the Cowboys tonight.

Yeah, played one heck of a game tonight. Very impressive. I remember Baalke wined and dined this kid. Almost everyone had him mocked to the Niners lol.
Kid played awesome out there last night

i'm obviously very happy we drafted Ellington but I wonder if Washington didn't take him there if we would've taken him. Still I like what Johnson has shown so far and look forward to seeing him progress along with Reaser and Acker.
