I really like the idea of drafting 2 CB. Verrett @ 30, and maybe a bigger CB later. Itd be awesome to get someone like McGill to compliment their other CB

They're in the business of adding talent to the roster. If guys have size and talent that's perfect but I'm sure they won't look past a smaller guy if he's the most talented kid on the board.
Tyrann Mathieu reminded people that little dudes can play defense.

For anyone who dont know him.
5-10 198
Arm length 31
40-time 4.42
Vertical 38"
I've always been impressed with Terrence Brooks. I'd be ok with the Niners drafting him. I don't like many safeties in this class all that much, but he's one I do like.

Looks like they're ok with small corners too.
Eric Wright is also 5'10".

Morris beat out Cooper...hmm...or was it a matter of not being able to slip Cooper to the PS?
This.

Of course you always start with talent. But if there are prospects of equal talent, it's not out of the question for teams to choose the bigger player, especially if their unit is undersized.

Yeah...my memory kicked in just after I hit post! LOL...double check and then post...
But Morris is still on the team at 5'10" and an incredible 40 time...may be a keeper, undrafted or not.

Because the 49ers don't play the same sort of defense. I do think if they can get a bigger cornerback with the same amount of talent, they will but I don't see an aversion to drafting a smaller player like some do. Talent>>>>size, every team.
Very true. Talent trumps all...or at least it should.

I'm far from the only one. I don't have to know whats in his head to know that he was off this season. Was it an injury issue? A bad year, maybe his girlfriend dumped him...etc......or is he really just not as good as advertised and will struggle to put it all together at the NFL level.
Unless it was an injury that no one knows about then I dont want him in the first 2 rounds. The guy was torched all year and I dont want to hear about that his head wasnt in it. Too many other good players that didnt suck last season that we can choose in the first couple of rounds.

I agree. Just think if we're talking about Verrett there's a decent gap behind him til the next guy...tho I'm a big fan of Kyle Fuller

If I remember correctly, Chris Culliver had a s**tty final year... Navorro Bowman definitely did... I watch a lot of Big Ten football so I remember that specifically. Aldon Smith's final season wasn't very good. Eric Reid fell off his senior year as well.

I do feel confident in Donatell and Jackson to develop a risky player but in our situation if Rogers and Brown are gone don't we want the most pro ready guy to compete for the #3 spot. Then again if we re-sign Wright or Cox and they are confident in them then maybe we could take a more risky player. To me though Wright and Cox are both #4's ideally. Hopefully Culliver is back to full strength and I think he has matured in his year off. Hopefully he has learn to locate the ball in the air and has worked on his jump ball skills. He played really well on the underneath stuff.

Bowman's Dad and HS coach died during that time and he also had some pot and alcohol issues. AND.. it dropped him to the 3rd rd. Same with Culliver. If Roby is still around in the 3rd then he would be worth the gamble. As for Reid.. well the fact that Matheiu and Claiborne were both gone had an impact on him and the LSU backfield performance.
