Myself, and some others are just saying we can get the WR in the 2nd round or after, but the top TE's will be gone.

Exactly..to me it boils down to who is our starting QB for next year and what additions will help him succeed into a SB win. Alex is going to be that guy and Fleener is perfect for his skill set and this offense. 29th in redzone offense, if I'm not mistaken, needs a fix....Fleener is a perfect fit. He and Vernon would tear up the league next year and for years to come.

I'm still on board with Fleener, not at all convinced by any of the WR's who might be able at 30. Ideally, I'd love to take a 3-4 OLB or Fleener at 30. Eitherway they can look for a WR in Rounds 2-5. There's going to be guys like Quick, Streeter, McNutt, Marvin Jones and more available who will be able to contribute to this team. There's absolutely zero need to draft a WR in the 1st round, none of the guys in that range look like anything special really.

Frankly my view is, who gives a f**k? Your average rookie receiver isn't going to come in and start at the #1 or #2 position anyways, meaning they aren't going to get all that many snaps to begin with. On the other hand Fleener would be ahead of Walker on the depth-chart from the get-go and seeing how often this team runs a 2 TE set, he'd have just as many or even considerably more targets than your average rookie WR would.

Agree with all your points on Fleener, Phoenix. Although I have faith in this new regime, I hope we don't reach on some WR in the first. Although if Wright fell, I could live with that.

True... However, I think other teams will also realize that there isn't too much value in drafting a WR in the first round and so may have a look at Fleener... Let's all hope that he runs a 4.7 at his Pro Day....

floyd and wright would make immeadiete impacts to this team
people complain about 3rd down conversions look at kendall wright he looks like greg jennings or a victor cruz in the slot

while i dont always like to think in terms of immediate impact... THERE IS NO WAY IN HECK ANY WR CAN COME IN AND HAVE AS MUCH OF AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT AS FLEENER WOULD HAVE when you remember that he already knows this offense!!!
the other thing to ask yourself is who would alex rather throw to on 3rd down and in the redzone? 6'6" fleener in the middle of the field or 5'10" wright on the outside? is there really any doubt who would be the better pick?

So would Andrew Luck, they're not getting him either.

I like Fleener for the Niners but the question is......is the first round too high, and the second round too late? I think so.
I hope the Niners trade back into the second round and third round and give up their first round pick. They need to pull a 1986 Bill Walsh draft because there are a ton of guys in the 2nd and 3rd round as receivers and TE's.
So if they can trade back 10 spots, pick up Fleener and pick up another draft choice, I'm all for it.
The one thing we are really lacking is SIZE and SPEED too........A 6 6 TE and a 6 5 WR with speed would go a long way for us.

What are the odds of Fleener getting picked up before #25?
Wouldn't mind trading up for this dude. Would be an immediate impact and we could possibly have two 900 yard TE's.

I think everyone has to remember that the #1 receiver will be 3rd on the depth chart to start with no matter what. It's Morgan and Crabtree's job next year.
Immediately I think Fleener has alot more upside than any receiver that we take. You look at our offense and it's safe to say Delanie had alot more production than any 3rd receiver last year.

Fleener is a good solid pick at 30. He is familiar or what JH and company want to do, so he will have a heads up on any WR we bring in FA or draft. Also, He is a big target, VD has the speed and CF has the size (height). Since we run the jumbo package a lot, it would be more effective with CF, DW and VD rather than Soap or other, as teams if they try to lineup more people in the box will be prone to the big play if the catcher gets pass the DB/S/ or LB. The only reason not to pick Fleener is if his blocking is no better than Reuland as Reuland is a good pass catcher but needs to work on his bulk and blocking, then again how is the guy doing in the off season?
I hope we trade Spencer so we can get some ammo for the draft, even if it is for a 7th rounder. If Mays can get a 7th, somebody has got to be interested for a 6th.
