Coby Fleener - TE Stanford

both charles and allen are physically gifted with good hands both will have great combine

I sure hope so, lol. I do like Allen a lot, Charles is too similar to VD but if they're going to take a TE, I'd still much rather have Fleener, especially with his size advantage.

Read Fleener put up 27 reps. Glad to hear it for the kid... his strength was supposed to be a concern from what I read. Not that bench reps are the final work on strength, but it does show dedication to weight training and it's especially impressive given his length... lineman with the same height can't put up numbers like that. Been some real bad lift numbers for lineman this combine....

strength was never an issue with him just his blocking ability

27 reps is nice, especially at 6'6" with long arms.

Read that he had a hard time getting off the line, too. Who knows... just some garbage I read on teh intarwebs. Point was it's good for him and a pretty impressive display of fitness.

Very doubtful he is available at #30. He's tall, he's strong, his hands are in the outstanding category. People have seen what Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham can do. It's a copycat league. With all the rule changes you can't hit guys anymore. So throwing high and in the middle of the field is the way the game is evolving. I think it's real possible he goes sooner.

It is, but Jeffery moved up, and a few other guys will move into the 1st round, its possible that he may be over-looked, especially if Charles wows people with his 40 time tomorrow.

Yeah, wondering how many teams need a TE or use two TE sets regulary but I said earlier hopefully his injury causing him not to play in the Senior Bowl or work out at the combine is enough to let him fall to us so he is at least an option.

I still see Charles as the #1 TE, with his strength, natural catching skills and on top of that a 4.4 40, guy will go between 18 and 28.

if this were the case and there weren't any viable picks for us I would laugh my a** off if we stuck it the giants and traded back so someone could draft Charles. Poor Giants those 2 injuries basically means they have to either gut it out for the first 1/4 or 1/2 of the season with 2nd or 3rd tier FA TEs or they have to burn early picks on players that aren't long term needs.

i wouldnt mind taking him at 30, if no great WR's are on the board. We would have the 2 TE combo just like NE.
Actually we would have 3 good TE's since we have DWalker too

Even with the combine results coming in, this still makes the most sense to me. Fleener at 30 mixed with whatever wr in 2nd. People like Stephen Hill and he seems to fit the Niners scheme well.
We made a jump this year and became a really good team. At the same time people freak out about all the holes that need to be filled on our team... The holes can't be that bad because we were 2 games away from the SB??? There will always be positions that we can add depth to or try and upgrade. But throughout the magical season we just had, we always had redzone problems and 3rd down problems. We had injuries with Ginn, Braylon, Walker, Morgan and Crabtree. The passing weapons have to be addressed and Baalke knows that building through the draft is the right way. We need to turn David Akers FGs into TD's.
I am so against this idea it ain't even funny

What if you just classify him as a receiver
