I really want to like Locker because he reminds me of a young Steve Young ........but I just can't. I can't get behind such a low completion percentage. Don't get me wrong, if we draft him, I'll root for him, but I can't root for drafting him.

I think Kaep is more like Young.

He is. Kaep is actually smart and athletic, Locker = dumb and athletic.

Colin Kaepernick may have a higher wonderlic but his offensive at Nevada will render him into a vegetative state when learning to transition into the pro game. And dont give me "oh well he looked fine at the senior bowl" , everything is VASTLY dumbed down at the Senior Bowl. Locker has played 2 full seasons in a very NFL ready pro system under Sarkisian at UW. Locker's ability to throw on the run is what is eerily similar to Steve Young. Kaepernick is a taller Pat White who dominated the WAC on sheer athletic ability...he might turn into a nice WR. Locker faced speedy, NFL player producing Pac-10 defenses while playing in a pro system. Sure, he didn't produce gaudy numbers like Sarks previous pupils but those guys have been playing under center their whole lives. Locker played in a wing-T in high school and a spread his first two years at Udub. For only 2 YEARS around the pro system, I'd say he produced pretty damn well

The way some of you guys form your opinion is hilarious. I get the feeling that "StoneCold Steve Austin" said Locker sucks and thats why you feel so strongly about it. If you have a real opinion of why you don't like him than say so. Saying he is not smart just sounds naive. I guess another reason that he won't make it in the NFL is because he is a Gemini... those guys never translate into good QBs... they get pulled in too many directions. I'm cool if you really don't like him but to seek out this thread just to say he sucks... wow! Thank you for the great insight. Please tweet J/K OMG-LOL to Harbaugh so we stay far away from this guy. And could you please direct me to the last years Jimmy Clausen's thread... I would like to inform everyone that "he sucks" as well because that might be grounded breaking info.

Yeah-I know you want to make fun of the WAC-but remind me what conference did Young play in while in college? Locker has problem throwing from the pocket. This is not my view alone, a lot of draft pundits say this, then again as Walsh said it is the hardest position to eval and project to the next level.

First off, you can't compare the Wac 25 years ago to now. That is a whole separate argument. The fact is PAC-10 defenses are tenfold more close to NFL defenses than the WAC's. You cannot argue that fact. Locker does have issues throwing in the pocket but this is mainly due to playing behind a porous offensive line that would scare the s**t out of Tom Brady. Combine the fact that all his receivers save Jermaine Kearse (btw is overrated) are terrible, and its no wonder he was jittery in the pocket. Ask any draft evaluator and they will tell you Locker's accuracy issue from the pocket is a result of over striding which can be easily corrected. If Michael Vick can be developed into a pocket passer at age 30, why can't Locker coming out of college?

locker is going to suck and i've already said why.

Look...none of us really knows if Locker will be a good pro QB or not. There are lots of opinions, but you know the saying about that. He did look very good at the combine and his pro day. He's got mad athletic skills...Harbaugh knows him very well & if he feels he can coach Jake up, I'm down with that. I'm also down with Ponder...I think his accuracy would be a big plus in the WCO. I like Dalton...he's an efficient QB, and that also bodes well for the offense Harbaugh will run. What none of us knows is who Baalke and Harbaugh value the most. I'm sure they love CK's athleticism and big arm...but have to agree, he'll have a lot to learn to succeed in the NFL. We'll just have to wait & see whom Harbaugh favors and what deals, if any, Baalke needs to make so JH gets his guy.

Regardless of his actual numbers, when you watch him on tape (by tape, I mean youtube videos of course...), he can make some amazing throws in the pocket with nice feet into some ridiculously tight windows. But other times he just totally flops, and it's unclear to me why. I'm no QB expert, but if he's just being inconsistent despite consistent mechanics, then it's in his head/innate ability, and I think that scares me more than it doesn't.

But he does flash a lot of amazing NFL type throws.

I think Locker will just have to be given the time to develop, and he'll need to land in the right place. If either of those don't happen, it'll likely be a rough ride.

locker may or may not suck---but can the niners afford to take a chance---the need as close as a sure thing thing as they can get---do what it takes to get luck

I agree. If Stanzi was drafted and somehow made the starter, we'd probably go 3-13, which is probably good enough to be the #1 or #2 overall pick. Imagine Luck as our starter and Stanzi as our #2 back up, McElroy as our 3rd stringer.

He just maybe, but I doubt it in his rookie year. If I'm wrong, I'll nominate you or give you the title of Draft Guru under your screen name. Can I make that happen maybe not, but I'll try.
