The Ryan Mallett Bandwagon

I seriously doubt the team has much interest at all.

I think you're right, but it's a mistake on Harbaugh's behalf to exclude and someone based on mobility alone.

Matt Schaub is a statue and he does just fine in Houston's west coast offense. Brady, Manning would still be elite quarterbacks in a WCO.

Smoke screen? Or maybe Mallett = Flacco for the Harbaughs?

I don't think its really smoke screen, just Harbaugh getting a good look at all the top name QB's, except maybe Cam Newton.

Manning and Brady are mobile in the sense in that they can navigate in the pocket extraordinarily well. That's why I consider them mobile - not in the Michael Vick sense, but being able to avoid the rush.

Both are just unbelievable in the pocket. Mallett seems stiff back there. Drew Bledsoe (if he's lucky) part deux.
Finally some news that can bring a smile to my face i honestly thought the niners didnt have any kind of interested in Mallett since i hadnt heard anything all i hear is Gabbert Ponder this & that.........but if this guy can get his act together off the field he can be the next Dan Marino

good to know that the niners will look at just about every possibility at QB

Total sleeper pick at #7
I'm glad we are looking at Mallett. Leave no stone unturned at QB. No question about his arm. If he didn't have the off field issues I think he'd go in the first round for sure.

Without the off-the-field issues, Mallet would go top 5 without a doubt.

yeah, think the same...we need a franchise qb, so we have to spend a look at every guy, we could get.

For sure. If a team can keep him focused, he should turn out to be the best of this class. He's the best passer in the draft, easily, IMO.

I know he isn't the kind of QB Harbaugh typically uses, but I would love to get Ryan Mallet. He's not going to wow anyone with his speed, but he looks athletic enough to move around in the pocket and throw while rolling out of the pocket. He also is a confident, competitive guy and one who I imagine Harbaugh would like to have. Not to mention he's simply the most talented QB as far as pure throwing goes IMO.
