why did the idaho team play him inside at guard, as opposed to tackle?
obviously teams usually put the more athletic olineman on the edge

Because he's a better guard then he is a tackle.
In other words, just because he CAN play tackle, doesn't mean he is a first round quality tackle.
So if we draft him, he should play guard, where his talents are most likely going to be maximized.
IF he can play RT just as well as he can play guard, then great, but if we draft him, our primary intention needs to be that he is going to play guard.
