CJ Spiller

I think he will climb up boards to warrant a top 10 pick especially since he will be compared to CJ, Cribbs, Sproles and even Jackson. He just would give us an explosive playmaker on offense, in the spread, but especially on ST where it is evident that great returns can change the momentum of the game...look at all three I mentioned. Just look at what Cribbs did today.

I wouldn't be upset spending the first pick on him with the second one on the best OT available which still could be Williams, Buluga, Davis, Brown...nice choices for our second pick.

Take the best playmaker with the first one though...Spiller fits that mold. Heck, he's better for our offense than Maclin would have been.

We have the luxury of two picks. Use one on Spiller and the other on our future RT.

Nice

Completely agree & this is what I want to happen in the 1st round!
So how fast is spiller ? any player comparisons ?

He's a three time All-American in track at Clemson. His best track times are a 10.22 in the 100 meters and a 6.58 in the 60.

He's in the ballpark with Chris Johnson as far as speed and could run a sub-4.3 at the combine.

He's starting to grow on me, and if we can answer our OL help in FA, I'd be all for drafting him.

My only fear is by drafting him, we piss off Gore who's already having a hard enough time adjusting to our current offensive changes.
anything that is going to help our woeful special teams and add some much needed speed I am all fr
If he's the BPA when the niners are on the board then I am all for picking him. He'll add a dynamic KR/PR that the niners desperately need, create matchup problems as a receiver, and he could help extend the career of Frank. A lot of successful teams are now operating with a RB by committee and the niners should utilize the same approach. I also think he's a safer pick considering Scotty Mac's record with drafting OL outside of Staley is pretty pitiful.

OL in FA + CJ Spiller in the 1st would be sweet.

Is it viable to have Spiller and Gore in the backfield at the same time?

Absolutely. Imagine a shotgun set with Spiller and Gore on either side of Smith. Both backs are great at catching the ball, and you can split Spiller into the slot if you want to pull a linebacker out of the box on a draw play.

There's tons of things you could do with both backs on the field.
For a team without major holes, a great pick...Niners wont even consider him...too many more pressing problems.

Agree. He could bring a much added dimension to our offense that we need!

Wow after watching those videos it seemed like every run was a break away run. Not only is he fast, he has great jukes and i didn't see him go down on the first couple hits. I'm now a fan

Take him there if hes available but we need to go OL with the 2nd pick.
I don't think he will last that long. Now that Carolina beat the Vikes I think the 49ers 2 first rounders will be too low for Spiller. I think Spiller kills it at the combine and goes top 7-8. So if the 49ers don't have the #8 pick, no need to talk about Spiller. And I WANT Spiller very bad. Just don't think it will happen.
